The Clinton campaign has everyone asking if America is ready for a female leader. The answer without a doubt is 'no'. Why? Women are too dumb to lead. Before the ladies get upset and guys say YEAH, this is a statement representing the subconcious of most of this country. With the image of women in pop culture today how could anyone take a woman seriously?
We all know that there is no scientific proof of the foolish title of this post. However, when you have Hooters, gentlemen's clubs, a billion dollar porn industry (where women are the stars), scantily clad cheerleaders, hip hop, Britney Spears, Lohan etc.-how can one imagine this crowd leading the free world? Some may say that this a narrow view of American women. After all, you've had congresswomen, senators, governors, CEOs, doctors, lawyers, Oprah, and Martha. Let's be honest, this is not the image Americans have of women as a whole.
Nations like Liberia, India, the Phillipines have all had female leaders. These are cultures that generally keep women in a more submissive role than the West-even though other western nations like Ireland and Germany have also elected women-this oppression, strangely, may have something to do with the respect the men in their cultures have for them. Am I saying that women should be oppressed in order to get into the White House? No, I don't want things to go backward, but face it, women are actually getting less respect now, since The Movement, than before. We actually have too much freedom to disrespect on ourselves. The cultures that have women who are forbidden to even show their hair do not have women being called "bitches" and "hos" and "cunts". No we should not have women stoned for cheating. Little girls' clitoruses should not be cut. Nor should a woman be raped and blamed for it like it's her fault. However, it's up to women-everyday and celebs-to have more self respect to give women more honor to be taken more seriously.

Who cares what the current pop culture image of women is, there should be a female president (just not Hilary). Yes some women are portrayed as being stupid in the media & there are places like Hooters and stuff like that. And why are there places where women or glorified/exploited? Because men are willing to pay for this entertainment, men are the ones that make these types of businesses boom. So how are you going to call women stupid, when men are the ones willing to pay to see these "stupid" women?
If you read the first sentence in the second paragraph you will see that the title is tongue and cheek. I don't think a woman is too dumb to run the country-hell GW's doing it (barely) how hard could it be?
It is high time that women stop blaming men for their exploitations. Yes, men are the ones running and employing the sex industry, but it is with our participation. You say who cares about the pop culture image of women. This image is part of the reason why there won't be any XX in the White House any time soon.
I agree with you. Women do need more self respect before they think of running for office. Everytime you turn around, you hear about others talking about how just a flash of their breasts and they can have a guy melting in the palm of their hands. Well, really, it's not that kind of person who should be running for office. It's the people (be them male or female) that are actually intellegent and willing to make the decisions and sacrifices needed for running a country. Especially one with the freedoms, decisions and such that are available in this country. The issues running around, one needs a president with a level head and a good ear to try and find a way of picking an answer that best suits the country as a whole.
women may have a negative image in the media but most guys images arent much better. Also it is a narrow view of women that you are comparing us all to and thats not fair because there are so many intelligent women and you are making your basis of one or two dumb ones. I am not saying that Hilary should lead (I dont even believe that even though i am a women) but you cant judge us all by a few
you make an interesting point, but I fail to see how it pertains to a woman being president. To me, it's the equivalent of saying a man can't raise children because in this society men are represented as insensitive business men with no nurturing ability. Until they get in the media and show us otherwise, I don't want any single fathers raising children.

Maybe instead of all of society changing the way women are shown in the media, you should change how you think and understand that not everything is how the media shows it to be.
I think that you are right about what our country is displaying our women to be around the world. Brittney makes CNN daily, and with girls like Paris Hilton running around with millions, it shows us that our dreams of being doctors and lawyers and making great money can be torn apart by being dumb and showing your ass to everyone.
However, I do believe that there are women who could run this country. I think that Condaleeza Rice could do it. I do not believe Hilary can, but then I don't think Obahma or John McCain can do it either. Remember that song, "Where have all the cowboys gone" i mean seriously, when did we end up with these diluted tell everyone what they want to hear although I contradict myself daily lying people come from? And how did they end up in charge of our country?
This happened because more people are paying attention to who is on the cover of COSMO and STAR magazine this week than they are on U.S. news, and what is going on in the world. As long as it doesnt come into people yards and smack them, for the most they don't care. And that is how we end up in the messes that we are in.
I do believe that people have lost respect for most women... but have you ever noticed how most men will play with the skanks all day, but when it comes right down to it, they want Martha at home... there is a reason for this.
