Nevada Falls Behind, Again

As a, hopefully, future teach I have been keeping a close eye, and ear, on education related happenings in my district. To tell you a few things about my district, it is the Clark County School District, we are the 5th largest school district in the nation and still growing, but oddly enough are the 3rd worst funded. Yes, that is correct, 3rd WORST. I myself do not understand how these bumbling idiots in government can putz around the issue of education while districts like mine are suffering. In an age of larger class sizes, fewer teachers, less funding and more violence, we can't afford to be ignored. That is exactly what is happening though. CCSD has been put on the back burner for years. People in our district complain about the horrid condition of our schools and our 'lack' of a good education, but turn around and get upset when we ask them to pay more to fix the problem! In another act of total ignorance, who do district officials decide to listen to about what needs to be done in our schools? Is it the principals? Teachers? Students? Parents? No to all of the above. They listen to the politicians up in Carson City and the incompatent people up on capital hill who most likely have not seen a classroom in over thirty years. I think that before we can make an effective school district, we need to get everyone on the same page about exactly what needs to be done and how much it's going to cost. If we don't do it soon, our future will become dimmer.

You go girl! forget the teach, go lobbying!
