Ignorance is the one quality I hate in people, but there is a type of person I hate more than any other type of individual out there.
I cannot stand people who are fake. When I say fake, I don't entirely mean someone who is kind to you to your face, then says shit about you behind your back. That's not such a big deal to me. The one thing worse than people saying shit about you behind your back, is people not saying anything about you at all.
I cannot stand people who truly think they're something they really aren't. They'd swear to people and themselves that they're something, when they aren't even close... maybe even the opposite.
I can't tell you how many people I've come across that truly think they're deep or philosophical, meanwhile they just string sophisticated words together, as a result, making not one coherent sentence or any relevance whatsoever. It's mind boggling and infuriating at the same time.
How to spot a fool in smart-pants:
A fool in smart-pants is someone who claims to be deep and sophisticated but in reality is in fact naive and delusional.
- They blame society but do not state why
- They blame the media but do not state why
- They try to have a political discussion, meanwhile use bias words such as "idiot", "stupid", et. al. (very dominant in George W. Bush discussions)
- They claim to have lived a tough life, but have learned from experience, meanwhile they still lead the same life
- They use the same articulate word more than three times in one conversation (they probably learned that word that same day)
- They string together several sentences that may seem sophisticated in themselves, but pose no relevance when together, or regarding the subject matter
- They try to use an intelligent word but fail at pronunciation miserably, meanwhile they repeat the word more than twice in the conversation (obvious)
- They use an articulate word several times but fail in definition and context
- They are extremely politically incorrect, meanwhile they try to justify they're political opinion (i.e. Proposition 3-17; nationalizing Saint Patrick's Day)
- They use their religion as a crutch, meanwhile they're able to identify it as such
Those are only a few of the ways to catch a fool in smart-pants. There are in fact many more. If they tend to do any of the aforementioned acts to a significant or slightly noticable degree, then you've got yourself a fool in smart-pants.
I know some of the things listed are a bit vague, however if you have read them and really have no simple grasp of an idea of what I'm talking about, then you're probably a fool in smart-pants yourself.
This was a method on ways to catch a fool in smart-pants as well. Be cautious on how you respond.

Well, NjPelli, if you must know, I find such people to be shallow and pedantic.

Life is a moderately good play with a badly written 3rd act.~Truman Capote
Pedantic? I find that very unlikely. Delusional seems more fit. I know far too many people who truly believe they are worthy of being labled significantly intelligent, meanwhile they are in fact morons. I'm sorry, but I have very little faith in this species I of much misfortune was born to be associated with; namely, the human race.
I wish it were true, that they are merely trying to brag about this new word they've learned. Unfortunately, all hands point to "no".
Here's an example I've witnessed personally.
A twenty year old constantly saying "trooflee" in an effort to say "truthfully"... constantly.
I do like laughing at people like that - or you can just embarrass them in public by defining the words they are TRYING to use and asking them hos their sentences make sense at all. Or state a bunch of facts playing devil's advocate and watch them struggle to keep up with you. These are always good for a bit of entertainment;)
