Why Not?

Well, you know how the civil rights movement caused a lot of uproar in its beginning? But it eventually became an accepted reality? It has come to my notice that there are plenty of other topics that can bee looked at in the same manner, as something that was incorrectly made into law, before being corrected. Well, I was writing a letter to my friend the other day, and something struck me. Things haven’t really changed. They have instead, switched focus to other hot issues, like gay marriage.

That really got me to thinking. If equal rights were such that though it was almost non-existent for a long time, it was later a part of the constitution, then shouldn’t other hot issues concerning personal rights be considered in the same way? Where Gay marriage or something that shouldn’t be controlled by the government, would be controlled by the people who live it?

Here is my opinion. I think that issues like gay marriage should be put into effect, not for the value of power over the people, but as a law granting citizens rights, just as the many civil rights movements helped gain minorities their rights.
