Well, as we all know that teenagers at the age of 18 can legally be considered adults meaning that they can get married, smoke, volunteer to go to war, but they can't drink. Yet, why does the government want to put a limit on 18 years old in a law that states that they can't drink until they're 21?
I think of drinking as an addictive legalized drug that can lead to: serious addiction problems. I have seen what it has done to other people in society and it corrupts their minds because it impairs their judgment to think logically and clearly in evaluating certain situations. Thus, it ends in those people making irrational choices and at times, costing them their lives. Furthermore, the government restricts the drinking age to 21 because they want to prevent young adults from making rash decisions and causing serious injuries to other people because of a series of bad choices that they had made.
I also strongly believe that government intervention is needed to regulate activities such as drinking to prevent young adults and teenagers from causing harm to themselves because too many schools don't teach their students, the dangers of alcoholism nor their parents. As government officials, then they believe it is their civic duty to protect the lives of their citizens against routy teenagers who feel that they need to drink a beer or two to be able to relax after a long day at work or from a long day at school.
Should the government lower the drinking age to 18 or not? Explain.

As an 18 year old myself, I know of many people who have done some really stupid things while drunk. Resulting in minor things such as losing their things at a party or something big like nearly killing themselves in a car crash. While I know I am going against a majority of my own peers here, allowing a bunch of young, as you said, "Rowdy" bunch of young adults to legally purchase alcohol will result in more alcohol related accidents and deaths. Not that ALL 18 year olds are irresponsible, but when it comes down to it, the majority will be unable to handle the substance responsibly. Regardless of the law, people will do it anyways. All that can really be done about it is to educate the population about the effects or drinking. If you really want to drink, do it on your own terms and know what you're dealing with.
The truth is, the human brain, in particular the function that helps us make decisions, is not full developed until we are in our early twenties. That's why young people need parents and adults to guide them. Even an 18-year-old "adult" - even the responsible ones - aren't physically old enough to make the wisest decisions. Add alcohol to the mix, and you have chaos. Judgement goes out the window. Lowering the drinking age to 18 is a bad idea, in my opinion. It would be like saying, "Well, you do it anyway, let's just make it legal." It's not a good enough reason.

drinking age is college campuses. An 18 year old can have a 21 year old friend by his booze for him, with results which can be deadly. The family of the 18 could then sue the school, which to me seems rather unfair.
