Texas right now is facing a difficult phase, lack of blood donation. My hometown Laredo, TX, is one of the other cities who is in great need of blood donations. Alot of people in my community are very conservative, and i wouldn't call them self-fish, i would call them uneducated people. We recently witnessed a great eye opener, though it was too late it may have educated our community for the better. A resident of our community, Daniel Estrada, suffered of Lukeimia and recently passed away this past February losing his battle against this horrible disease. His greatest wish was creating a blood drive for those in need of blood as well as he was too. He organized it, and planned it, and was determined to help those in need as he was. He was our Hockey Team, Laredo Bucks, Greatest fan and in exchange they were willing to help him fufill his dream, the blood drive. Yet, he didn't get to see this happen. He lost his battle, but his family continued with his wish. This was a great eye opener to many. Many who weren't willing to give blood, did. It was an eye opener, but a little too late. If many would only see that there is many people in need as Daniel was our community would be a little more benifited and many would continue to live on, and fufill their dreams like Daniel wanted too.

• Better future

I don't get it. Why is there a blood donation issue? I live in Texas, and I see the Red Cross around all the time, even at my school. I gave blood a couple of months ago, as did a lot of my friends. Why won't people do it?
