Recently I went shopping for new work clothes: black dress slacks and a button up white shirt. Let me first explain my proportions. I am a 5'1 and a half (don't forget the 1/2 inch, it's very important.) have quite broad shoulders due to weight training from basketball and wide hips.
The first item I attempted to find was my dress slacks. I went to the Petite section. Well, apparently that section is only for short people with non-existent hips. On to the women's section. Their size six pants fit me in the waist, however, I could have worn these slacks and had built in slippers as well. They went well beyond my feet. Joys. Of course, these are the ones I bought, they are generally rolled up with a rubberband.
Next was the shirt. Maybe it's a blouse, I have no idea. I'm not very fashionably knowlegdeable. I ended up having to purchase a large from the Women's section. Tucked into my black slacks, I look like a bit of a fluffball at the waist.
So I ask, what about us short people? I want a clothing section for short, larger than a size 2 woman.

I second that!

I know how you feel. I'm 5ft and very "hippy." Dress pants is out of the question. If I have to dress up I either wear a skirt/dress or dressy capris. I hate going shopping. I usually have to special order my clothes. I also want clothes that are for people who are different sizes. Let me explain what I mean. My top half is a 3 maybe 5. My bottom half is a 7 maybe 9. I want to be able to go shopping anywhere and find clothes that fit.
We should get together and start our own clothing line! For women of all shapes and sizes!
lol! Definitely! I have a few *ahem* vertically challenged friends that would be more than willing to shell out a few extra dollars for pants they don't need to cut and sew. heh.
I'd wear the skirts and dresses, but I wasted too many years wearing those things six days a week in private school. Now that I'm free of them, they're no longer a choice for me. :)
I occasionally special order, but it gets rather pricey and I try to put the majority of my money into a savings account for college, not my wardrobe.
I don't have too much of a problem, even though I am rather short...I just have a problem finding pants that fit my hips and my waist. I'm what they called a "brick house". My hips are rather...ummm...voluptuous. Yeah...that's a nice word. My waist, however, is quite a bit smaller (Thank the Lord.) So it's really difficult to find a pair of pants that actually will stay on. Luckily, someone decided to invent belts, but I would really like it if people would make clothes for actual women. Like...me.
And what is this garbage about a 00 size? WHO DOES THAT??? STOP NOW!
Honestly...we need to at least have a size. Even if it's just a one. Just eat. Please.
what is up with that? who i s that small. no one should be .
Seriously...
I have to run my two miles every night just to stay a size 6.
I' 5'1.5" too and I resently out grew my doubble zeros and now WHAM I'm a neat size 1-2. I've always had troubble finding clothers (especially suits and jeans) that fit correctly. They do not make buisness suits smaller than a pettete size 2 in many stores (and when they do they look teeny bopper and not professional). I love to shop, but it is an exausting adventure to find suitable outfits. Oh, and I forgot to mention...I have an ass. I'm mixed, so although I have relatively narrow hips my butt is reminisent of J-LO. Why don't they make women's sizes like mens?? It would be sooo much easier to shop by messurements instead of neat 00-30 et cetera. Even though I am small waisted and fit the petite figure clothing is no less of a hassel.
Lets band together...

What's wrong with being a size 00? I'm currently a size 0....and was a former 00. I'm just naturally small. I eat right and I exercise regularly.
But anyways, my advice for silent is to shop at Express rfor jeans and slacks. They have a large variety of sizes.
Darlin', learn to sew.
The clothing industry doesn't make clothes that really fit anyone (save the skinniest). As a woman with large breasts, I have a hard time finding shirts. They either fit my chest, or they fit my waist. I usually go for the large that fits my chest, and tailor it with my sewing machine. Same goes for pants. I have very narrow hips (they are exactly the same width as my waist, although unfortunately for me, there's also a managable, but annoying bit of fat between waist and hips), and no ass. Finding pants that fit AND look good is a task of biblical proportions (not so hard since I discovered Lane Bryant's line of jeans though).
So, since they industry refuses to make clothes that fit me, or you for that matter, I have invested in a sewing machine that will help me make my clothes fit.
