A new AP/Ipsos poll out today shows a wide 20 point lead for Democrats in their generic Congressional preference question (early May results are in parentheses):

If the election for Congress were held today, would you want to see the Republicans or Democrats win control of Congress?

Republicans, 32 percent (34)
Democrats, 52 percent (51)

Neither (VOLUNTEERED), 12 percent (13)
Not sure, 4 percent (2)

The poll also found that 70% of Americans think that America is on the wrong track and 63% disapprove of George Bush's handling his job as president. Additionally, 60% of Americans disapproved of Bush's handling of economic and other domestic issues, while 59% disapproved of his handling of the war on terrorism and other foreign policy matters.

The number of people who say they are not pleased with Bush's management of the war in Iraq has reached a new high of 64%. Fifty-nine percent of Americans now say that it was a mistake to go to war with Iraq and 54% do not think a stable government is likely in Iraq. When questioned about the alleged massacre in Haditha, 63% of Americans say that they believe the military is doing all it can to prevent civilian deaths.

Bush receives his worst marks when it comes to high gas prices, with 72% of Americans disapproving of his handling of that issue.

In addition to more Americans wanting a Democratic-controlled Congress, 73% of Americans were not pleased with Congress' job performance as a whole.

Bush is the worst president, I cant wait until he goes away.
