Where would we be without the freedom of speech? Without the freedom of religion? Without the freedom of commerce? Our lives would be an empty reflection of what they are now, with every choice dictated by the government. Just like freedom, equality is also an integral part of our heritage. Every American, no matter what background they come from, has the same opportunities for “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Our nation is a place where anyone is able to succeed. Because freedom and equality are two of the highest ideals man can work towards, every American needs to appreciate them and jealously guard them.
