No Child Left a Future

Tagged:  •    •

I have a huge, HUGE problem with the No Child Left Behind act. I hate the law. It does not benefit the public school system, and there is no funding behind it.

A great vocabulary word after thirteen years of public schooling:

Sucks.

No Child Left Behind, it sucks.

Before I go off on how much I think it is a big waste of time I would just like to state: It is a good idea in theory. It is not such a great one as it is.

I grew up and attended public school in Florida. Now Florida’s education system leaves a lot to be desired. We are basically are a state of older people who vote for officials who will benefit them and not so much the youth. I know No Child Left Behind is national, but I feel states also affect it a great deal.

Another awesome public school word:

Blows.

The FCAT, well it blows. Florida Comprehensive whatever I don’t care Test.

The school, it teaches the test. You do not learn math to learn math. You learn FCAT math. You learn FCAT reading. If you fail the FCAT, there is a special waste of time class that is supposed to help you in passing the FCAT.

Why do we have this test?

No Child Left Behind. We have to have some sort of system in which we see what kids we are leaving behind, and let me tell you Mr. Government; WE ARE LEAVING ALL THE KIDS BEHIND. The kids in elementary school today hate school. I loved school at that age. We went outside frequently, and the work was taught in a fun, easy way. Now they just teach it for the test because if the kids fail the test, the school gets a bad grade, and then the school receives no funding. Shouldn’t the schools that are doing poorly be the ones to receive the finding? I guess that only makes sense to me.

Here’s a word that defines the system:

Failure

So now, I am a of voting age adult and I chose to vote for people who want to change the system. Because it just isn’t working out.

Hope. It is what I have.

Maybe President Bush wants all American children to be geniuses just like him. @-)

I completely agree with you. I don't know if there's many people now who think that NCLB is effective, even if they do support the idea of it. Honestly, testing schools using standardized tests for students is ridiculous. Where's the freedom for teachers to teach what they think students should know? Such as basic skills and ways of thinking, not basic facts and ways of taking tests.
