Blogging Etiquette

Progressive U is a place that is designed for people to come and blog about important issues and current events that are occurring in our daily lives. Depending on the status (age, political interests, etc.) of each person, bloggers are more likely to react to blogs that are about a topic that "hits home" with each individual blogger. It is important to remember a few things when blogging and posting comments on the site though. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion whether they differ from your own views or not though these views should be expressed within reason. Everyone sees things differently, and on this site, everyone should be able to express their opinions without having to worry about being called "stupid" or anything else. Debate on different issues is a good thing, but try to keep it from getting nasty. One of the worst things for a blogger is to find that there are many nasty comments left on their blogs that pretty much tear their opinions apart. All I'm saying is that if you do leave a comment, make sure that it is not provocative and does not bluntly tell the person that they are wrong in their viewpoint. Just share your own point of view, and please actually read the blog before commenting on it. Nothing is worse than a person who skims through an article or doesn't even read the article and then leaves a comment that has nothing to do with the blog. I hope that all of you bloggers in Progressive U land take these tips to heart and remember that everyone is entitled to their own opinions without receiving a bunch of nasty remarks. Happy blogging to you all.

Well said!

We can have our own opinions and not bash other people... it's not all that difficult to do and makes things flow a whole lot easier around here when people drop the confrontational tactics and have actual discussions. And if you are name calling, etc, your comment(s) will be deleted as per PU policy.

Yes, I have already made sure that some of the name calling comments have been taken down from the blogs.

It's just that simple. I recently wrote a blog about homoseaxuality which sparked an UPROAR of comments. I thought this activity would be good but the more comments I received the nastier they got. One person even attacked my ethnicity and I got so angry but I kept my cool and explained to the blogger how disappointed and ignorant he sounds. Some people can't stand to hear people on hte contrary and hate being wrong!
