Ides of March; Another Win for Anonymous

Today, March 15, the controversal organization known as Scientology witnessed yet another worldwide protest by the group known as Anonymous. Anonymous gathered around the world to speak out against the bizarre practices of the Church of Scientology. A number of followers have died or commited suicide while being under the Church's supervision and yet there has only been one person indicted by a court of law. The Church is also tax-exempt though it requires its members to submit up to $28,000 for a single course to educate its members which in turn, makes them more likely to buy another course and the cycle repeats.

But, I digress

Back to the streets, in Europe, Australia, and North America, Anonymous lined the sidewalks across from the branch offices of the Church of Scientology all donning masks to protect their identities from Scientology smearing. The Church has had a long history of bullying or otherwise silencing its critics and opponents, so Anonymous had to be more cautious this time after some incidents involving Scientology agents following certain Anonymous after the February 10, 2008 protests. The result was hilarity and beauty. Playing the theme from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air(Bel-Air'd) and Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up"(Rick Rolled). Eating cake and singing Happy Birthday to the late L. Ron Hubbard, founder of Scientology and author of Dianetics, the equivalent of a holy text. Thousands standing together across the world united against a common enemy in a world where the lines are so often blurred. The Church may call it religious persecution. The Anonymous call it justice. And I have to agree. And they will not stop until the Church is dismantled.
