aaagh! ok I said lullabye would be the last post of the night, but just...just pretend it came after this one.
I burn everything. Why? WHY?? I have burnt six bags of popcorn in the past two days. and Dammit, I eat every bag, lest none go to waste. I'm cooking these silly dry pinto beans and I have set off the smoke detector four times tonight. I call the smoke detector, my "oven timer". Without it I would have burnt down the house several times.
If I be talented in some areas, I be seriously deficient in others. Namely this one. Its so bad that the other day I was at a study group, and sniffed my fingers then announced quizzically "Do I smell like burnt popcorn?" and then the light of understanding dawned in my compatriots eyes...."Ohhhh, thats what THAT is."
Yeah, sigh, I burn everything. Or, congeal it. We eat a lot of raw foods in my house. See I'm a health nut, because I figure its a lot healthyier to eat everything raw, than the burnt carcinogens of my attempts.
I can't wait to go back to frozen Amy's meals. Neither can my kids, they wait to go to school to eat (now they're starting to rummage in the cabinets themselves and request a lot of cereal to avoid the forced march towards the edible ashes).
Or better than that I can't wait till I win the lottery and get enough money to hire new cook, cause as of now, I cain't fire this one!

Here is what we did for my friend who can't cook to save her life, firstly we compiled all of the recipes of ours that she liked into a cookbook with step by step instructions (you can ask your friends to do the same) secondly, we bought her 3 cooking timers(one for each level of the house. so that she can ALWAYS hear the buzzer. When it comes time to make a meal, make it an occasion. Turn off the T.V. and stop answering the phone, focus on what you are doing, and to keep yourself in the kitchen start with foods that have the longest cook time, and begin cooking the ones with shorter cook times accordingly.
hope this helps
I do have a lot of trouble focusing for various reasons.
The cooking timer for each level of the house (I have two) and probably one that I carry on my persons is an excellent idea for me.
Sadly, its what I had to do with my keys ( not timers). I have a lanyard and a caribeaner. I put it around my neck and clip it to my waist, and I've only locked my keys in my car twice this year. Maybe three times.

I have to laugh b/c I have the same problem. I either burn it or undercook it no matter what it is. I avoid cooking any kind of real dinner. Good thing I live with people who cook. Other wise it's take out or microwave meals.
You wouldn't expect that someone who works in the fire department to burn things...lol...
hahaha..sniff sniff sniff....its so sad but so true. And when I was little I use to be fascinated by fire. Now I put it out.
Oh the polarity of my life.

For a sec when I saw the title "I Burn Everything", I thought that I would find somebody with a burning things obsession. But turns out you just burn your food. hahah; I should't judge :]
:) yes, I probably shouldn't have given into temptation. I had just posted a lullabye to try posting something different and was checking out for the night when my "timer" went off, and I burned another bag of popcorn to char. I was a wee bit frustrated and hopefully succeeded in turning it to humor.
