A well known British Army Chief says that the British should withdraw from Iraq as it is causing his country security problems, and making their international relations weaker.
In the Daily Mail interview he said: “I think history will show that the planning for what happened after the initial successful war fighting phase was poor, probably based more on optimism than sound planning.”
He continued: “I don’t say that the difficulties we are experiencing round the world are caused by our presence in Iraq but undoubtedly our presence in Iraq exacerbates them.”
Britain should “get ... out sometime soon because our presence exacerbates the security problems,” Dannatt said.
The same thing could be said about any other country that is currently in Iraq, but especially the United States.
We really had no business there to begin with. Bush Sr. just wanted to finish what he started a number of years ago, so he told his son to finish the job, so he did, well at least tried.
Anyways, back to Britain.
The Army Chief now defends his statements, trying to say that he and Blair are not 'fighting' about things, that this is just his opinion, and a very just opinion it is.
Even if Blair and him are fighting about the situation, it is a fight to be fought. No one really had any kind of reason to be there, and from the looks of it, Britain officials are now realizing this. Unfortunately for them Bush and Blair have a little 'fling' their not telling anyone about. It will be a great day when I see Blair tell Bush off. I personally think it is in Britain's best interest to get out of the war while they still can, same thing with every other country. Let the US finish what they started and let the reprocusions hit us, and no one else.
There is no need for other countries's international relations to fall because they are the US's bitch. I hope Iraq, Korea, Afghanistan, and Iran all understand this. I know this probably sounds bad, but the US can't control everyone, and has no reason to control anyone. We need to look after our own people before we can worry about the welbeings of those in other countries, and I'll tell you why.
Sure, there are people in other countries that beg for the US to come in and help them out. Unfortunately for them, we won't unless we have a military-bound reason to. So, like Iraq, we move in the "help" the people. What we don't realize is the number of people that want help, is quite smaller than the number of people that don't want help. It's almost like Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Nevada saying: "Mexico, come help us because the American's won't learn Spanish, so we can't get good jobs, and become citizens." And Mexico says: "Sure." Not knowing that the other 46 states don't want them here. I don't know, I'm probably not making any sense now. It just bugs me that American thinks it needs to be involved in everyone's business, and because for some weird reason, Britain feels like it owes the US something, Britain follows whatever the US says.
I am hoping this move will encourage other US Military officials to speak out and do the same thing.
