North Korea nuclear test successful!

According the North Korea they successfuly tested a nuclear bomb underground on Monday.  Acroding to officials at a South Korean seismic monitoring center there was a 3.6 tremor at the same time that the North Korean's said they tested the weapon and it has been concluded that there was no natural occurance to cause this tremor.

North Korea has been saying that they had the technology to make a working nuclear weapon but before now they had never had a public testing.  The US and Japan had suspected that there would be a testing coming up soon and this seems to confirm their suspicions.

Now that we know that North Korea does have the weapons that world will finaly be forced into action of some sort to keep this from getting out of control.  My biggest worry is that President Bush will try to take this all into his hands and deal with the North Korea's with threats of force.

This time we should be united as a world when we try to deal with this threat.  Iraq should have tipped off our government as to how much they actually needed the UN's support.  We are not as powerful as we believe we are and I think it will get very ugly very fast if the US tries to deal with North Korea on its own.

Yes, the fact that North Korea is now a nuclear power is going to cause uproar within the global political community. Our government (America) will attempt embargos, sanctions, and threats to put a halt to such displays of power. The UN will back them, and the world climate will change. But the attempt to stop such requires a delicate touch that the current administration does not have. The world powers need to be careful and approach this with a unified means that doesn’t act as a charge to the primer cord.

It should not be the US backed by the UN though it should be a united front.
