So basically we're supposed to be writing about things that are influential to teenagers and those in college. So I've decided to dedicate my first post to underage drinking. One might ask why I would do this, but I think the answer is fairly obvious. I don't care how smart you sound in class, what political party you belong to, or what your personal views are on the subject. We've all been touched by this issue. Almost all of us can raise our hand and say 'yes I've done this' and if we can't, we're either lying or we've been in the situation where we could. So I pose a couple of questions, and I'll answer them, but I'd appreciate a few answers back.
1) Why do you drink or not drink?
2) How old were you when you started?
3) Do you think its wrong?
Answer:
I waited until I was nineteen to finally start drinking, and I did it on a whim. I will never get as drunk as I did the night I first drank. I ended up plastered, wanting to tell my then-girlfriends mother what I thought of her daughter, which wasn't a good idea. I've since decided that I don't need to be that drunk, I don't need to feel that. It infuriates me that I loose so much self control when I'm drunk. I don't want to be the girl throwing up or making out with some random person. So now at parties I drink wine coolers if anything and maybe get a nice buzz. I firmly believe that the drinking age should be lowered (if I can die for my country I can drink, ok?), however, I don't believe that anyone needs to be so inebriated that they cannot control themselves.
Thats my two-cents. What do you think?

haha i totally agree, however i dont think we are thinking it cuz of the same reasons...but i do absolutely agree 110% about the dying for our country statement you gave!! most of my high school friends, along with my boyfriend, are in the military and are still underage for drinking. 21 being the "right age" is pretty much a load of crock to me! they may as well lower it, cuz were gonna do it anyways, right? I know i am/do. I had my first drink when i was 15 and got drunk for the first time when i was like 16-ish. haha and yeah i pretty much say whatever i damn well please even if im just buzzin...which later on in the night leads me passed out somewhere. However, not once have i turned into a total slut while intoxicated! my personal thought in that is that, its not the alcohol that does that at all, its just the true inner person coming out!....neways overall, you got good points and i totally agree! : )
1) I do it most of the time to let myself know i can still have fun. It's nice to participate in an activity that people have been doing for hundreds if not thousands or tens of thousands of years. Drinking makes you feel kindred to the people who have gone before you.
2) I started freshman year and, like you, never drank so much again.
3) I believe that bing drinking and using to try to cover your problems in a thick layer of liquid courage is wrong, but I cannot condemn those who drink lightly or on occasion for the sake of not being a hypocrite.
I agree with you that the age should be lowered because the numbers that do it anyways. I for one started drinking at about 15 and granted that was irresponsible yes I learned early what i needed too. I've had my share of stupid moments while drinking but like you said... If i can and have signed a piece of my life away to the military why cant i be entitled to a drink here and there? My answer to that is that i can and will. Its something you always need to be responsible about.
