Personal News

This is just about me and nothing else really. I have some really good news for me and things are going to change here just the way I figured they would.

First off, I got a phone call as I was coming out of the gym after my swim time. It was the nursing department secretary calling to let me in on the results on the fall selection. The director had retired and some other teachers were leaving the already stretched thin department and so for I while I was raving mad because they were not going to have a fall cohort. I busted my tail trying to get the last of my heavy classes out of the way so I could focus on the program courses in-the-fall and then they practically cancelled my entire plan of how I wanted my schedule to go. I was going to have to do something else for money while I waited and the risk of getting bumped would increase with a double load of applicants in the next semester this would cause. Then the publicity drummed up some amazing fill-ins and put the fall cohort back on track. I have been waiting on pins and needles for the result calls to know so I nearly fell over when my cell buzzed. She said I made it… I Made IT!!!! RN here I come, not that I had any doubt.

Second, they are tearing our buildings down on base and they have everyone scheduled to be moved out in September. My husband hand to flip through burning hoops, writing the commanders, and talking with ‘housing’ to try to get us a move before the fall semester. For some reason we had been too lazy, or something, to order my daughter’s birth certificate nearly two years ago. That was the last document needed before anyone could decide on to what size home we would get. When we moved here we had only one child and lucked out on an extra room… that did not take long to be filled ;). They could not however afford to be so generous the second time around. The cert. finally came yesterday and we pretty much know that we will be moving in the beginning of July. The place is maybe at most a quarter mile, if you walk in circles from here to there. I joked telling him that we could save the environment if we just walked our stuff to the new place instead of renting a moving van or using our own heavy duty pick-up. This elicited some foul language and laughter over the phone.

I get to move to a new house and become a nurse…Yeah me.

Congratulations!!

I'm a little confused... You get to be a nurse now, or you got into nursing school? Either way, it's a huge accomplishment! :-)

That's awesome. Isn't seeing graduation on the horizon fricking amazing? I have less than a year and I'm so excited. Of course... I get less so about law school everytime I think about the LSAT lmao... but yeah... less than a year!! Do you know what you want to do after graduation or are you still considering your options?

Everything! does that mean considering my options???
I want to get a forensic nursing cert, then be a midwife and maybe include peds. I plan on getting yet another degree, either the MS Nursing or something completely diffrent. As it stands I have the A.S. in Aerospace Ground Equipment, an accounting cert (means less then a diploma), a semester and a class from my CJ associates...who knows I am a nut case and looking forward to nursing. I may find a entire other passion during the school. I am game and thrilled.

OOOOoo the last year for you...whats that ... oh the light at the end of the tunnel, Nice!

That sounds like fun! One of my cousins is a nurse, and she really likes it. there are so many different things you can do, and you can always easily go back and get more education if you decide you want to take it further. It seems like a great career choice for you since you seen so excited.

"Unless" happened to me. :-/ I missed the passing grade of 77% by about 1 point for a couple classes and had to retake them.

Aside from feeling like a complete failure, it actually wasn't so bad, and I learned more from it. So I did 2.5 years rather than 2. *shrug*
