Obesity+Ignorance=More Obesity

I hope I'm not the only one who sees how high the obesity rates among children are. I realize all of the factors that contribute to the rise in obesity. Yes, its because of overeating. Yes, its because of the lack of physical inactivity. Yes, its because of heredity. But really, I think that even knowing these facts, ignorace becomes one more cause to the rise in obesity. I know there are a lot of people out there who care about weight. But there are people out there who know these facts, and yet continue to eat at fast food joints, and stay home and watch TV rather than actually doing something about it. While we have people who care too much to the point where they'll diet even if they aren't considered obese, there are a greater number of people who are obese but can't find the motivation to better their health.

I know. I've seen it. I ask why they don't care. I get the usual, "I'll get to it" kind of response. Is the very fact that their health is in jeapordy not enough motivation to change one's ways? Really, for the people who seem to wait it out, how should you push them to better their lifestyle if they simply won't hear it?

I think a better title for your blog could be: Obesity+Apaty= More Obesity.
I do think that some people just don't care, but for the most part, I think that they just lack self discipline and self control. It is definitely a cultural phenomena, as obesity like this doesn't exist anywhere else in the world. Personally, as a physically fit person, I don't know how someone could let themselves get to the point of being so out of control, but that is just my own ignorence. All I can do is wish the best for them...

Now I know the risk of eating out.No I not making excuses for overweight people who eat junk. But me personally I dont like to eat out alot I dont eat cakes. I rarely even eat junk. Believe it or not I eat alot of veggies and fruit. I like brown rice and noodles. I dont even drink as many sodas as you may think. I dont even buy sodas. I dont eat beef as much as I use to and I working on getting rid of pork. I actually only buy turkey meat. Not beef. Dont blame children for being obese blame the parents. I doubt you have ever been overweight so honestly you might not know what it is like to be in my shoes.

Tyra do shows like this all the time where the skinny and fat person switch bodies. I am not extremely overweight but I could stand to lose weight. I know in your mind dieting and exercising is easy but it sometimes is harder than what you think. So many people have tried but since they hated themselves so much they couldnt pull through it.We all know the health risk but sometimes its just not that easy. I have not always been overweight but when I got to the tenth grade I started gaining weight rapidly and I was on the colorgaurd and we ran almost everyday and so I had physical activity but yet I wasnt losing but gaining. One day I will lose my weight but I have to be able to look in the mirror as a big girl first and love that body before I can work on having a new one. Majority of obese people have tried many diets but until they love themselves now they will always be obese.

I agree with you. A shocking amount of people don't know what a healthy body even IS. They think it's someone very thin, or someone very muscular, or someone very fat. Most don't realize what a healthy woman or a healthy man is supposed to look like. They also don't really know what a healthy diet IS, despite all the info on TV and stuff. They keep hearing of this new diet and that new diet and this new pill... and don't realize how dangerous those diets and pills can be. Most people diet desperately without even realizing that living a healthy lifestyle really isn't that hard. And most people have huge misconceptions about what foods are healthy, what amount of physical activity is needed, etc. Studies show that most people (especially women) can't even accurately judge their OWN weight - they either judge themselves as far thinner than they truly are, or far fatter.
