I do not watch Disney Channel too often but I have been noticing something lately. Everyone on there sings and dances!! High school musical and Hannah Montana are two of the most popular things on that channel obviously, but it seems that Disney is going even farther into musical craziness. The Jonas Brothers have a movie on there about a music camp. And it seems that everybody has their own music video on that channel. What is the deal?
There are some semi-talented people on Disney, dont get me wrong. But none are the GREAT preformers such as the Beatles or Elvis or Madonna. They are tween kings and queens. So I just find it rather amusing that Hannah Montana/ Miley Cyrus/ Whatever other alter ego she has and High School musical stars are breaking records with their sales when really they arent super duper talented.
Now I kind of get it because NSYNC and Backstreet Boys were the Zac Effrons of my day but I mean come on! Are they really as awesome as Disney and 10-15 year olds make them out to be. Or are they just young stars who are looking for some money. Miley has already gotten her own section in WalMart! I mean I not angry but I just think Disney should get a little more realistic. Not too much because they are Disney and Disney is about dreams but they should just come back to planet earth and show kids that not everyone sings and dances. There are other talents in the world.
PS- Old Disney like in the 90s was the BOMB by the way.
Sure, maybe lots of the people on Disney Channel aren't very talented... or maybe the are?? It depends on our standards, I suppose.
Take a close look at the famous singers we've had before. Sure, you mentioned some of the greats, but that's not the majority. I'd say almost all the young Disney Channel performers are waaay better singers than, say, Brittany Spears, even at her high point.
Sadly, having talent doesn't always have much to do with being famous these days.
Britney Spears got her start from Disney, too. :-P

Disney has never been realistic... that is the point! I love Hannah Montana by the way, I think that show is hilarious. Also, Miley Cyrus is pretty darn good at singing I think, I mean I enjoy her music anyways. It is strange yes, but that is the point of Disney you know? To fill childrens heads with things that most likely will never be attained in life.

Weren't Backstreet Boys promoted on the Disney Channel quite a few years ago? I think that's how I first learned of them. Disney used to promote bans like Bewitched and Backstreet Boys, before they started making entire series revolving around their next teen wonders (Lizzie McGuire, Hannah Montanah, etc.)

True! I remember, they used to show backstreet boys videos and bewitched videos. Those were the days. The Lizzy McGuire movie was amazing too, I saw it in movies as well. :]
