Tillamook, OR

I am back in love with the United States, and specifically, with the Pacific Northwest. After the visit to Washington, my friend and I drove back to Portland for a day before heading out to the coast...all in one day we visited the Cascade Mtns, the tidepools of Cannon Beach, the wonderful views of the ocean from many, many roadside stops along highway 101, and then, all the breathtaking views of the ocean from the overlook spots when you drive straight out from Tillamook to the Nisquili Lighthouse! On the way to these breathtaking views, a bald eagle swooped at our car! He or She came a foot or so from the windshield before swooping upward again, and Holly and I could swear that He or She tilted Its head and looked straight at us, right through the windsheld! It was an amazing and breathtaking moment! Then, the view of the ocean from an overlook on a rock-face with a waterfall being swept upward by the amazing wind and showered over us and hearing the cries of hundreds and hundreds of seabirds over the sound of the crashing waves on rocks hundreds of feet below us; well, I don't have words to describe this feeling!
Anyway, I am so greatful, after the sort of disappoint trip to Washington, that we got to do that Oregon coastal drive! It was so amazing and it brought joy back to me and restored faith in my heart and love for all things Gaia-related. After our whirlwind tour of tidepools, sea aemines, Bald eagles, waterfalls and the ocean itself, we explored the power of nature back in the hotel room by washing our faces with this amazing green clay that we'd purchased at this odd little herb shop/liquior store that we stopped at in a little tiny town called Wheeler, OR.

Love,
Carrot

I was born in Tillimook. I've only been back to visit once, but I loved it. I still remember running through the rain on the beach while my mom yelled, "Now THIS is the Tillimook we know and love." Although I could have done without the constant smell of cows, but you get used to that.
