Fun things to do 'til the sun comes back....

I'm discovering more and more each day that life is really about playing like a five-yr old; but a five-yr old who has (safe,) sexual prowess and the ability to drink alcohol! this is an amazing and wonderful discovery...the world seems a lot more fun and charming if you view it like that...you give yourself permission to do silly things like cut your own hair, spend time at the duck park watching ducks and riding a bike rather then becoming an "adult" and getting a car...

So I'm making a helpful list of fun winter-almost spring, cabin-fever activities to do; because after a month or so of sun, Portland has succumed to rain once again, so my little T.V.-free, DIY household is busy finding new project to keep us busy...
1) teach yourself a new instrument
2) teach yourself to knit'
3) teach yourself to bake
4) learn a new language (or maybe remediate English....)
5) spend time at the duck pond (or your local eqivalent..)
6) spend time in bed with someone, really learning the art of "going down"
7) give someone a massage, maybe in exchange for something
8) host a seed exchange in preparation for springs!
9) give the old bike a tune-up for spring
10) learn about fetal circulation or female ovulation (if you are a nerd like I am!)
11) start reading a new fantasy series
12) build your own mini-biosphere (check out www.bottleworld.net to see details...)
13) give away stuff that is cluttering up your room
14) have a clothing exchange party
15) have a bake goods exchange party
16) have a party with only dumpstered foods/beverages
17) spend time talking with an engineer about green buildings
18) go look at old issues of National Geographic in your local library
19) check out music at your local library
20) burn a cd for a loved one
21) print a wacky t-shirt for a loved one
22) make homemade cards for everyone you know
23) make a zine
24) memorize the Lorax
25) play games like Apples to Apples while drinking lots of wine and being silly
26) build a "fort" in your yard like you did as a kid, have friends over and hang out in the fort and be silly
27) brew some homemade beer or wine
28) make something out of clay
29) fix clothes and shoes that need some "help"
30) cut your own hair
31) find out if your area has a free school, if not, start one
33) meet at a coffeehouse with geeks of your own variety and talk all afternoon about some geeky topic that makes you sound and look smart...
34) play the game Go
35) go see some local music!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's the short list of things to do when you've got cabin-fever...be creative and have fun! Oh yeah, and be responsible...some of these activities should have little warnings by them, but I figure you are smart enough to know which ones, ect..

Love ya,

If you are constantly plagued by rain may I suggest that you...

Jump in puddles.

I went to college in Northern New York (which is in my mind the East Coast's equivalent of Seattle) and we would often have weeks of rain. I never owned an umbrella, and would constantly get soaked from having to walk across campus.

Nothing is a better remedy for the rainy day (or weeks or months!) blues than sloshing through puddles. Hell, you're probably wet from being outside in the rain anyway!

I am all for local music, it's one of the reasons I'm moving to Milwaukee, and also one of the reasons I was sad to leave Phoenix. It's hard to not have a good time in those cities if you know where to look. :-)

Always remeber to Live Long and Laugh Hard

#6 is so laudable. There really is an art to it. There's even an art to receiving it. I think other sex activities can be more emotionally bonding or more satisfying in a primal hyena-like way, but going down has this going for it: it seems to be purely about giving someone else pleasure. You really have to be paying attention to how they're reacting as opposed to just following some pre-programmed set of tongue swirls.

And if you're receiving -- well, nothing can be quite the turn-on as just realizing that someone you think is hot is going to go down on you. But you have to be open to letting them give you pleasure. Which isn't as easy as it sounds. A lot of people have to fantasize while they're receiving, in order to come. But I really started digging it when I just dropped the fantasy.

Just one problem with working on this during the rainy season: isn't the room cold? Too many blankets can leave well-intentioned lovers gasping for air.
