Is it necessary for people to respond the way they often do to the blogs on here??? It is amazing how a political, racial, spiritual, or whatever issue can turn even the most respectable adults into backstabbing 13 year olds. I am only 18 years old and am realizing more and more how much I do not want to be classified with the adults of our time. Someone can post a blog about their PERSONAL opinions and get 20 nasty, hateful responses on why they are so off base and they have no clue what they are talking about and that they are a failure at life. It amazes me. I am ashamed to be in the same grouping as some of these people. There is a huge difference between arguing and discussing. Kids argue. Adults discuss. You can calmly RESPECTFULLY state your opinion or point without being hateful to another blogger. It discusts me. I have been guilty of it once or twice and am realizing that it's horrible.
Do we know what the problem is? Do we know what the source of this problem is? I do. Adults have no respect for each other's opinions or even for them as individuals. Older people always say how horrible our generation of teens are. How we aren't respectful to adults. Kids learn by example. When a kid sees his/her parents disrespecting each other they figure that's acceptable They haven't been taught any different. Or when a teen or young adult gets on this website and posts a blog and gets attacked for it, they are going to be under the assumption that they must attack others or defend themselves. We should not be forcing people to defend themselves. We should be calmly debating. Not degrading.
Thanks for taking the time to read about my concerns. Keep in mind that the kids of this generation are your future leaders....

thank you thank you thank you.
I use to post on ebays question and answer area, where members post questions and other members answered them. After only a week I stopped because I could not handle the very personal attacks against each other.
I have not been on here for too long, in fact less then 24 hours, but they seem to be good at moderating personal attacks.

They are vicious on this site. Just letting you know.
The problem is that people confuse ideas with people, and they may direct their disagreement with a thought towards the individual who had it. It also doesn't help that it's over the internet where things are even less personal.
I absolutely agree.

And, also, you have to realize that a lot of the issues debated on this site are very close to the hearts of people debating them. Things are going to get a little (or a lot) heated.
If I get into a viscous seeming argument with a person on the issue of, say, religion (which is not quite so rare an occurrence), that doesn't mean I can't have a calm discussion with those same people on other topics.
I do think that there are some people who go a little over the top somewhat frequently, but you have to realize, again, that some of these issues aren't ideas or thoughts or opinions to some people on the site, they can be realities as well. They can be things that they have devoted their lives to, or things they have to experience on a daily basis.

Yeah it gets to be a problem when people take criticism personally. We (the people on this site) need to make the effort to NOT get so offended.
Another issue is, people get SO defensive if someone says something negative about their blog, especially if it's something about sources or correct English. x.x
same here i hate when adults act like little kids. its the worst if a teacher has an attitude like a little kid. it makes you so irritated being in the classroom

It is always good to be reminded that bloggers are humans and have feelings. it is never okay to personally attack someone based on just one tiny piece of information that they give out to the public. a human is multi layed and deserves more insight and respect.
we need to realize that the blogger is just expressing one view that does not encompass everything about them.
