Don't Read

So you know when people tell you "don't look" you look anyway? That happened to me the other day as I was walking down the street. Someone told me not to look, and I did. Let me just tell you it wasn't something I wanted to see. I mean he told me not to look, so why was I dumb enough to LOOK. See I think that when people tell you not to do something, it makes you want to do it more. Like when the 18th Amendment abolished the consuption of alchol; more people wanted to drink. When a person is said not to do something, they want to have a sense of freedom to do what they want to do. People don't want to be told what to do. It feels like they are being restrained. So when you're told not to look, you feel like its your personal right to look, so you do it anyway.

However what I saw the other day I didn't want to see; he was right, I shouldn't have looked. So how do I stop the temptation to do what i'm not supposed to do? It's instinct to just do what you want, as a person; as a human being. However there's restraints for what we should and shouldn't do for a reason, to protect ourselves from harms way; from the firery depths of hell. However there's always people out there doing more then just looking when someone warns them. There are people trying to kill others, steal, cheat, lie, rig the system. All crimes are about testing the limits and how far one can get. They want to test the waters to see how long they can survive without the current taking them under.

Another perspective is put into play when someone tells you NOT to look; curiosity. Everyone is curious, and wants to know about things; learn things. So everyone has to learn because they are curious about the things around them. If someone doesn't know what a thing is/does they will want to know, out of curiosity. For example if an orphan from Africa came to america, they would want to know what all the technology was surrounding them was. They would want to know what a lightbulb was or a TV; anything that was new to them. They would be curious to know what they had missed out on. You want to know as much as possible so that you aren't left out, and that you keep up with time. A person doesn't want to get left behind in the world around them. If they did, they would become isolated from the world around you, maybe even your loved ones.

So did I look because this person wasn't my friend? I mean I like this guy he's pretty amazing and sweet. I know him pretty well, and he's not someone who would decieve you. It it because I didn't trust him? I mean I don't think he would have said that just to say that. It's funny how many views can be put into something so trival, as looking when you're told not to. Maybe it was for me to decide not him. He doesn't know me as well as my friends do, so he wouldn't really know if what I saw would upset me. I mean he could make a pretty good guess, but again he's not my best friend, just a classmate....

Its funny how much came out of such a trivial subject as "not looking" but it gave me new insight. I just have to dig a little deeper to find what truth is inside of me. Its pretty interesting what the little things in life can bring to a person. Such as looking when you're told not to. :D

I would say being curious and not reading or looking is different. Curiosity does lead to being nosy. But I do get what you are saying. When we are told not to do something, for some reason that seems to be adrenaline rush for us. Curiosity happens like you said for instance with someone coming from Africa exploring america. These two subjects meet when the curious person is told to not do something. They go head first into it and face the consequences. Why? Because by then they could not help but be so nosy. Everyone has done this . Even me. When I was 7 I used to always watch my Dad shave his face. He always told me to never shave mine and don't mess with the razor. Well one day I thought I was going to be a big girl and shave my face. Problem was , I had no hair on my face, I quickly scrapped the razor across my face, and here came my piercing cries of pain when I started bleeding. Good thing we have Neosporin. You can't even see the scar because it was a long nice one. Ever since then when someone says don't do this or don't do that, I listen. Good Blog. And yeas I rate every blog I read.

First I would like to say THANKYOU for your rating :D Its a rare occascion that I ever get rated. :D

Secondly, I absolutely agree with what you said. People get an adrenaline rush when you are told not to do something. Its sort of like putting up your guard, and preparing you for the worst, which only makes you want to know even more. Maybe when you look, it prepares you for the bigger things in life, rather then worrying about the little ones.

I'm actally suprised that I wrote this much. I started off not knowing what to write at all, I started with thinking of the little things in life, which apparently can lead to bigger things. :D Hey I've found another topic. YAY!

Thank-you again for your rating and I'm glad you enjoyed my blog. :)
