For Guest users and Guest user affiliates

I have been noticing a lot of guest posting blogs and commenting on a scale I hadn't noticed before. I dont know if Guest participation is starting to go up or if I just noticed it today, but I saw three blogs posted by guests! Now I love this site, I love the free trade of ideas and the whole progressive theme, but this is getting frustrating.

The one I went to was on tecniques that deter a bully. The blog was pretty sound but then a guest made a comment on it. Naturaly the original Guest(I assume) replied to the rude comment, though they wern't sure if the Guest the Guest mentioned was them(The afore mentioned supposed original posting Guest) or some other Guest.

Now if that last sentance has your head spinning you can see my problem. We have no way to tell who's who!

I want to know that when I comment on a post that I will be able to get a reply, there is just no closure otherwise and I feel as if I'm being cheated out of a argument. But I appreciate the opinions of these guests( though some have been quite rude) and I want them to keep their ideas going and bloging them here( especially if it will bring something new to the site).

So, what I'm asking for is. Would all of you Guests who feel compelled to write about something just join then blog? It doesn't take all that much time and I would love to be able to argue with you. Or maybe just put a little something in the bottom corner of your comment box, as a way to identify who you are( your signature if you will)?

The guests comments you're seeing are usually past users who have had their accounts deleted. We've been working on removing blogs when they get their account deleted initially, but we're not always successful (Nick, for example, deleted his account without much warning, so we didn't have the chance to remove his blogs).

Comments by 'guests', unless they're really old, retain the username as the author, they just no longer have a link to their blog. We've required registration to submit comments for over a year and a half now.

I tried to nicely correct someone on their blog because I would like others to do the same, and then they became a guest so they must have deleted the account. Mvenus929 has a point. I would comment on a blog then try to track it, and it would show up as a guest post.

I think this is the main problem. But I am sure there are some rude people posting comments who are guest and have never been members.
