The impossibility of tolerant truth

The idea that reality varies from one person to the next brings me to this whole issue of tolerance. A teacher told me once that she "would tolerate anyone's beliefs on anything, because to each person, what they believe is their own truth". How is this even possible? What she was saying, and correct me if I'm wrong, is that a person can have a belief and it can be completely different, but they can still say that all beliefs, even ones which oppose their own, are true, because truth is relative. What really snagged my attention, however, was her use of the word 'tolerate'. If you believe someone in their belief, then how is there anything to tolerate? Tolerance implies that you're putting up with something, not embracing it. Putting up with something is not equivelant to believing it is truth.
Perhaps these are the sorts of reasons why I am occasionally considered judgmental. But I don't know exactly who it is that I supposedly judge. I love people and while I may not agree with some of them on some things, I value the people because of my relationship with them, not because of their political stance or religious practices. It's not that I think that it's okay when the people in my life make decisions I disagree with, but it's more that I don't consider it to be my responsibility to change their minds.
People who believe that everyone is right believe in everything. I firmly think that believing in everything is like believing in nothing. It is impossible to think that two opposing viewpoints are both correct.
And the truth is, I wish I could finish this properly but that's an impossibility at this moment for a bevy of reasons.
What do you think?

I believe there are many paths to truth and the sacred. I believe there can be more than one answer, just as there are many choices in life. It is true when you do not deepen your spiritual practices, you are having a perhaps more shallow experience. If divinity is infinite, why wouldn't it mean different things to different people?

Meaning and being are not the same. An interpretation of something does not change what it actually is.
Different interpretations on an idea are not the same as opposite beliefs on a basic principle.
