Religion: Other (or Caution: Religious views expressed)

Hello. Welcome to McCatholics, your favorite processed religious chain. Our specials today are some Dao with a side of Islam, a Judaism with the side of Hindu and finally a Buddist with a side of Chrisitanity. We thank you, and hope you enjoy your daily life.

Everyday, I see people walk through the halls, walk down the street, drive on the road. And most of the time, I wonder whether they wear boxers or briefs. But what really gets me is when I meet one of these people, and they don't know what they believe. On the little sureveys, I have to pick "Other". For the longest time, I was a member of the Wayside Baptist Chruch. And for the longest time, I thought I was Christian. I still do think that I am, and if you look at some of the roots of my religion, I am in a way christian. I am what you call a Diest. I believe that there is the possiblility of a god, and if there is one, then that means that he created the world and just let it be, making minor adjustments. To be prefectly honest, afer finding out some of the things I did, I didn't know if I wanted to be a Christian anymore.

From Wikipedia (I know how credible the source is, but I'm sure most people will agree.): Unbelievers are said to deserve Hell on account of original sin according to many conservative denominations. (From the article Hell, section Christianity).

Now, ladies and Gentlemen, I have absolutely no care in the world whether you are Christian, Aethiest, Muslim, Buddist, Jewish, Morman, Daoist, or even if you worship the Church of the Flying Spagetti Monster (Please look it up for a good laugh. Especailly the replies from the Kansas board of Education). I am merely make the statement: Know your religion.

A few months ago, I had a discussion with my little sister. She's 14, and has decided to become a Baptist (she was an Aethiest). Now then, as of recently, some events have come up, including one where she wrote a letter to a girl saying "the only reason you're going to church is because of" my sister's ex-boyfriend and that this was "slapping my God in the face." Realize that she now does and has been doing the same thing for the past few months, except it is for friends, not a boyfriend. Again, I wouldn't care about this, but she uses her religion as a soap box on which to speak from. She has called numberous people sinners, most of which have done something to upset her. But the biggest kick in the face about is it is that she is so hippocritical about it. Instead of saying something to someone about somethnig she believes in not doing, she believes in doing something that no one but her can do.

So, if nothnig else, please listen to this: Know what you believe, follow what you believe, and always be willing to accept that you might be wrong. I mean, in a world where only either the Buddists and the Christians can get to heaven, who's gonna make it?

Hey, I agree. Too many people misuse God every day. And too many people care too much about their own religion, which they might not even understand properly, to take two glances at anyone else's religion and give them half a chance. The world would be such a better place if everyone just shut up for a minute, looked at where the other was coming from, and honestly tried to understand it.

Not only about knowing what you believe, but knowing what you believe and -doing- what you "believe" says that you should do.

*-They think teenagers have nothing to say. This is just to prove how wrong they are.-*

What is it about Christianity that makes you think you are a Christian? It sounds like you are just not an Athiest. That would be like me saying I am an Aithiest because I don't believe in Mohammed, I am an Athiest. That is not the case. What exactly, other than a belief in some sort of god, makes you think that you are a Christian as opposed to a follower of any other faith?

That I am a 100% Christian, but it states that, "Once you accept Christ into your heart, he is always there." When I was younger, I did. So by Christian standards, I am a Christian. However, I do know my beliefs and I follow them. I wasn't trying to say I believed one way or another, I was merely trying to make the point that I was sick of people taking their beliefs and using them as justification for things which completely go against what they preach.

The way an adult's brain works is take something and come up with a logical answer for it. The way a child's brain works is take something and turn it into something new which entertains them. The way an artist's brain works can not be described in words.

i know exactly what your saying. i happened to be unsure of weather not i believed in what i was being taught in church, i always wondered how others did it, that is showed up every sunday and put faith into something in which they couldnt prove ever existed. and then i got older and i now sit in the back same spot in the church each service and watch teh people in my church. they dont pay attention. people only sing songs because they have heard them so many times they can just sing it subconsiously. half the people cant stand to pay attention to the whole service, and by teh end of it hardly any could tell you what the whole thing was about. its getting ridiculous. people show up to church out of habit. they sing songs out of repitition, and the only part they really look forward to anymore is coffee and donuts before and after with their friends.
