DISCLAIMER: Pursuant to this country's right to free speech, I can and WILL post this blog which contains my opinion. I welcome comments, both for and against, what I believe in. I would say that if you plan on using my blog to post comments promoting hatred and discrimination, I would advise against it. I believe Fred Phelps has a website out there that you can do that on with all your cronies. Thank you. Now, on to my right to free speech!

So today I wandered over to the Mission: America website at http://www.missionamerica.com. I don't even know where to start. This is one of those moments in my life where I have to take a REALLY deep breath and count to 30 before I begin this post.

Let me back up for a minute here. This all started after I signed up for this site in order to try and participate in a place where people everywhere are exchanging ideas and concepts, something I want to be a part of. So, I checked out the blogger of the week and read a great blog on Mike Huckabee. Then I wandered over to a blog about how gay people are working on messing up the sanctity of marriage. This was a parody meant to point out the laughable idea that there is a gay agenda whose purpose is to rid the world of straight people, recruit new members to "the club" (two more recruits and I get that new RonCo Food Dehydrator!!), brainwashing your children and inevitably recruiting them and making adopted and foster children in our home miserable and turning them into rapists, molesters and various other felons. Oh, and recruiting them into the club. You know, I actually found a website that leads people to believe that there is a secret handshake we use to identify each other in public! Pure absurdity.

Meanwhile, back to Mission:America whose sole purpose is, according to their website under the "About Us" section:

Quote:

Truth is critical to a dying patient, and America is gravely ill. Trouble is, she seems unaware that the prognosis is very grim.

All that can save her is all that has ever been able to save her--the blood of Jesus Christ. But when will comfortable Christians proclaim this truth to the nation? Shout the warnings of danger and the hope of joy from the rooftops? What will it take for the church to return to its first love?

There are so many things wrong with this statement. First off, our "first love" was our desire to have the right to practice our own religion. I don't believe the history of the United States says anything about us wanting to only practice Christianity. I believe we came here with the idea of creating a free society that you are now wanting to restrict. You want YOUR cake and to eat it to and you want to crush MY cake into the carpet of America. If you are not Christian you are nothing at this point in America and THAT, folks, is what is wrong with this country. We have lost those original ideas that this country was founded on.

So, my first issue with Mission: America is their complaint regarding the National Day of Silence which according to their website, http://www.dayofsilence.org:

Quote:

The National Day of Silence brings attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools. This year’s event will be held in memory of Lawrence King, a California 8th-grader who was shot and killed Feb. 12 by a classmate because of his sexual orientation and gender expression. Hundreds of thousands of students will come together on April 25 to encourage schools and classmates to address the problem of anti-LGBT behavior.

Mission: America has this to say regarding the day of silence:

Quote:

“Day of Silence” – April
Last year, Mission America joined many other pro-family groups to stand up against this school-wide “silent” day of propaganda and misinformation. We listed the schools participating—and boy, it was amazing how mad parents got when they saw their schools on that list! We want to expand the list this year and give it wide publicity, until it disappears for good. Schools should not get away with this nonsense. Let us know if you learn that your school will be observing this day—then call the school and tell them what you think. Students can organize a Day of Truth on the day after. Go to www.dayoftruth.org for more information.

Now, pay particular attention the the part that says "We want to expand the list this year and give it wide publicity, until IT DISAPPEARS FOR GOOD." Now check this out on the page regarding this Day of Truth (http://www.dayoftruth.org).

Quote:

The Day of Truth was established to counter the promotion of the homosexual agenda and express an opposing viewpoint from a Christian perspective.

In the past, students who have attempted to speak against the promotion of the homosexual agenda have been censored or, in some cases, punished for their beliefs. It is important that students stand up for their First Amendment right to hear and speak the Truth about human sexuality in order to protect that freedom for future generations. The Day of Truth provides an opportunity to publicly exercise our free speech rights.

So, let me get this straight, you have created a Day of Truth because you feel that the Day of Silence promotes only homosexuality and that is silences all other opinions. I don't think that the kids were punished because they were speaking out about homosexuality, possibly it was the WAY they went about it. You describe your Day of Truth as an opportunity to PUBLICLY EXPRESS OUR FREE SPEECH RIGHTS, YET you also say on your page, "We want to expand the list this year and give it wide publicity, UNTIL IT DISAPPEARS FOR GOOD. Schools should not get away with this NONSENSE. Hmmm, did anyone else see the hypocracy in those two statements? You want your opinion to be heard while squashing that of anyone who doesn't share yours while b*tching about your hate mongrel children being unable to share their opinion. Most people DON'T take too kindly to an opinion being introduced to them through the form of a fist or a bat or that end in the words "queer", "faggot" or any other derogatory claim.

The overall consensus, the overall argument used against anything that those in the GLBT community try to obtain in the form of civil rights comes back to religion. We are told that gay marriage is bad because it is against the Bible. What happened to separation of church and state? I found websites that said that the founding fathers intended for the country to be on the whole Christian and that our government would reflect that. Part of the reason we left England was based on the idea of practicing religious freedom. Even if that is not the case, America is a different country than it was over 200 years ago. America is a melting pot, something we have celebrated for centuries, as long as you're straight. That melting pot is made up of various races as well as various religious beliefs. Basically they are trying to tell us that we should all be ruled by a government whose laws are based on one single religion? Is that fair for a legal citizen from say India? Should those people be ruled by a Christian based government? Yes, and let's convert them while we are at it, according to their line of thought. Again, let me point out the hypocracy. The gays have an agenda where they are out spreading their evils and are busy trying to secretly recruit new members to their way of thinking. Hmmmm, ever heard of the Crusades? That's the one where the Christians went into Jerusalem to "reclaim" it for their own and to remove all the Muslims. Of course we all remember the bloody battles of the Gay Crusades when the gays attempted to retake South Beach and remove all the Christians. Ever have a homosexual knock on your door wanting to share with you the word of Cher? Ever go into a public restroom and find pamphlets spreading the gay word on the counters and the back of the toilets? Ever see any commercials or billboards or ANY other type of serious advertising "calling" you to contact a gay church or to CALL NOW and receive your copy of the Book of Homo, it will make your life better, your teeth whiter, your wrinkles disappear and your relationship with your kids stronger. You will find purpose in your life and will be revered as a better person if you simply call and order the Book of Homo now! Offering your book for free? Isn't that kind of like taking the free candy from the strange man in the white van who approaches you as you walk home from school? In either scenario, you may be sorry for the choice you make and your family may wonder where you have gone.

POST DISCLAIMER: I just want to go on the record as saying that I KNOW how much hate commentary this blog will probably draw. I say bring it on, I have not heard myself or read somewhere whatever homophobic, gay-bashing rhetoric you can throw at me. I have heard all the examples and read the passages and heard the arguments. This was my opinion and the idea was to start a dialogue and to make people think. Well, that and to recruit new members because mama needs that Food Dehydrator!!!!! :-)
