"Youth In Asia." Doesn't it sound nice? It makes you think about little oriental children. This is not the discusion at hand; euthanasia is.
Many people believe that it's alright to kill the elderly; why shouldn't we? They're going to die soon anyway. Taking care of the old can seem like such a burden. This is not true. I know a family who's grandma got to the point where she forgot how to eat. Since she wouldn't eat or allow others to feed her they had two options: let her starve to death or put a feeding tube in. Now, putting a feeding tube in would cost a lot of money, but it would keep her alive. Yes, it would be more work to take care of her, so they decided to talk to a priest about it. They were told that it was their choice, but once they put the feeding tube in, they could not take it out. They decided to put it in and she has been living for the past 5 years.
What about pushing the button or pulling the plug for someone? It may seem ok if they ask, but in reality, you're the one killing them. Doctors who set it up so the elderly can push the button are responsible for the person's suicide and in a way it's murder.
What if the person isn't breathing on their own? In this situation, I believe it might be ok to pull the plug, but only if there's no brain activity what so ever.
Although people may think they're doing the person a favor by putting them out of their misery, it still shouldn't be allowed. If we make allowances for one case, we start making exceptions for every other, until it becomes perfectly acceptable.

I don't think people want to "kill the elderly" but sometimes putting them out of their pain is the kinder thing to do. I believe it is more humane to let someone die peacefully, rather that keep them in pain.
