To my surprise, when I looked at my cell phone bill online, I had gone over my messaging plan by 592 messages! That's almost $60 in overage charges! How many of you have had this happen?? I've been over my plan before, but not by nearly that much. Can I help it that I am popular!?!? (LOL!) My messages were mostly incoming, by the way. I'm sure many of you send text messages on a regular basis, and some of you have had similar experiences. My recent overages fees inspired me to upgrade my plan to unlimited text messaging, which costs about $20 a month. It also inspired me to look into the problem a little more. A few of my friends have had the same thing happen to them. I also found a few interesting news articles talking about text messaging. Check out this one one ABC News (http://www.abcnews.go.com/GMA/AmericanFamily/story?id=3269814&page=1). This kids are worse than me, haha. One kid sent 3000 msgs in a month (at 10 cents per msg). That's $300 on top of the regular cell phone bill!! If you are a parent footing the bill for your children, I suggest you make them pay for the overages (even if they just make an allowance). But, that's up to you. It won't work in every situation. This article has some good suggestions for parents, and may even help you to decode some of the texting lingo used by your children. I also found it interesting that children are more likely to respond to a text message from their children, rather than a phone call. That's because no-one has to know they are talking to their mommy or daddy, heheh! Feel free to comment on ANYTHING you have to say about kids, teens, and text messaging...
