There are alot of remake in music and movies.
What do you guys think? Do you think these original songs and movies should be left alone or do you think these songs and movies should be remade for people to love and enjoy over and over.
She's Like the Wind by Lumidee. Good song. A remake of the original song She's Like the Wind by Patrick Swayze. Alot of people (over the age of 28) are very upset that the song was remade. They just think the remake ruined the entire song. Me, on the other hand, think its great!
A movie that is not recent, but well known, is the new King Kong movie. What did you guys think about that, should it have remained untouched? Or did you really enjoy the remake?
This poses another question. Are these entertainers running out of ideas???
What do you guys think??
Thank you for taking the time to read,

A remake doesn't really affect the original very much. Yeah, it is frequently used as a ploy to make money, but whatever. If the new one is good, then I see no reason to hold back.
I think movie producers might be running out of ideas. Don't get me wrong: there are a lot of good, new movies coming out. But every other movie on the box office seems to be a remake of an older movie. They're excellent if they reenact the original effectively.
I'm a huge fan of the original movies. The classics. The golden oldies. But a lot of those have been covered up over time. These "new movies" that are in fact remakes open my eyes to these hidden treasures. Honestly, without the presence of remakes (songs or movies), a lot of great icons would go unnoticed and eventually disappear. These new-old things keep the past alive by intriguing us to look back.
Music and movie producers don't like taking chances. When they find a formula or a song or a story idea that works consistently they stick to it until it stops working. Predicting what will sell is hard, banking on previous experience is the only thing they have. It doesn't always work out in their favor, but the idea of randomly supporting this project or that on personal preference or artistic value is appalling to your average producer.
Movie remakes are by and large a waste of time. King Kong has been so mytholigized at this point that a movie is no longer a re-make, but another telling of the story. Not every movie about, say, Hercules is a re-make of the first hercules movie.
I tend to like cover songs though. Taking a song you like and re-interpreting it or making it your own is enjoyable and fun. Sometimes you just can't beat the original though. "I put a spell on you" by Screaming Jay Hawkins is never going to be topped. Well, I suppose it might, but voices and deliveries like that have fallen from grace in the recording industry and only a blues howler can push that song over the edge. Of course you can take it in a completely different direction, but I haven't heard anyone make me like the song more because of their rendition just yet.
Res ipsa loquitur.
memor mori, mahalo.
The problem I have with some remakes is that they don't bring anything new to an old concept or the new version is horrendous. One remake that I really don't like was the Producers with Nathan Lane and Mathew Broderick. I have seen the original movie and it is really really funny and I have seen the stage adaptation it was fun to me but the new one was nothing new. It basically was a musical stage show taped with no audience because some of the actors were over emoting or using exaggerated voice inflections and it bored me alot.
