Empirically speaking, the
United States is bound to 'fall from power.' Not necessarily to third world status, but from of the position as 'The World Power.' As the Greeks, the Romans, Alexander, and the Pharaohs lost their status by letting the power get to their heads, so shall we (historically speaking only). We, US citizens, like to claim that we are smarter and that because we elect our leaders, and are not under a tyranny that is bound to be overthrown at some point, we will always be a world power. True, to a certain extent. But even democracies have fallen- who’s to say it will not happen to us? Especially if our nation continues to be so divided?
Some say the world will end on 060606 (and that new movie about the end of the world which is scheduled to premier that does not help this foolish notion) however if we choose not to bank on that statement, we can all agree that mother earth has a couple hundred years left in her. Meaning, that who knows, the
US could lose power. I am not saying that we will, but what if we do? What will the
United States' future hold? We are quick to criticize nations like
Mexico for not providing better jobs etc to their citizens, but yet that could be us in two hundred years. It’s not like Mexicans wants to be poor, or stereotyped. That is just the circumstances they are in; and circumstances that are hard to get out of as well. Not every country recovers as well as the
US did during the Great Depression. And the GD alone should be enough to show us how vulnerable we really are behind our tough guy façade.
Just something to think on as we go about our daily lives. I am not criticizing anyone for badmouthing Mexicans who outsource our jobs, we have all done that. I am just encouraging people to put themselves in others' shoes.

Pretty true. The blame is laid on the Mexicans, but not on compaines that send so many jobs to other countries for cheap labor.
Like you said, people should put...on other's shoes"
good post. i think the u.s will have it's down fall like all great powers maybe not as intense as completely collapsing economy wise and industrially, but maybe as a second or third world power. Division especially between our political parties isn't helping at all. Confusion to the people of the U.S. with mixed decisions doesn't favor American progress as a world power.
