Trying to understand clowns.

I never understood clowns.
Granted, clowns may not be the most interesting things in the entire world, but I do believe they deserve some recognition, at times.

There is no reason that today is one of those times, except for the fact that late last night while trying to fall asleep my mind drifted to them.

Mainly, I was thinking about their roles in movies.

It seems as if a clown cannot get a decent role in Hollywood.

I mean, "Air Bud", that lovable movie in which the dog runs away from a horrific clown-owner sticks out in my mind.

The owner is terrible to the dog.
He's abusive.
He's an alcoholic.
He beats the dog.

How about the movie "It"?
I'm sure I'm not the only one who has trouble walking over the grates in sidewalks, compliments of that cinematographic adventure.

The clown in that movie is a SCARY.

Clowns have got a less than stellar reputation and I can totally see why.

No wonder that there's a whole phobia dedicated to being afraid of clowns.
(Coulrophobia, by the way.)

I can't imagine why someone would like clowns, at least, not based on the media that they are presented in.

However, a love of clowns may just stem from the type of day, or the situation.
At a party, seeing a clown can be fun, for some people.
Seeing a clown in your backyard while grabbing a drink of milk at midnight...not so fun.
Like the actor Lon Chaney, Sr. said, "There is nothing funny about a clown in the moonlight."
So true, Mr.Chaney, so true.

I'm sure there are some fantastic clowns out there.
And I'm most certainly not putting down clowns.
They're so...entertaining (during the daytime).
And I'm positive that not all clowns are drunks who beat golden retrievers, or crazy serial murderers who pop up out of sinks.

I'm just saying.

Try thinking about it, late at night, while trying to fall asleep.

Or maybe not.
Either way.

I never thought of it that way. Clowns did get a bad wrap. Allthough, even nice clowns are more annoying than funny. Now I have to look up where clowns originated. I think the funniest thing about a clown is watching them get lifted in the air by a 300 pound mammal in a rodeo. That's comedy.

I like Clowns.

My church has a clown troupe that does a children's service for all the major things (easter, christmas, so on and so forth) and they're always amazing.

Sometimes it can be really passionate because they're silent.

Clowns aren't always evil! :'((

What's the worst that could happen, apart from all of us being flattened or fried or whatever bombs do? [Rudy Steiner from The Book Thief]

Hollywood's shed some bad light on clowns.

I hear people say, "Clowns scare me!" or "I hate clowns!"

I have to ask, "Do they/you really?"

Because I think that it's a load of bull. It's amazing how much people's opinions can get influenced. I'll bet most of the people who don't like clowns have never even seen a clown perform in real life. And people fear the unknown. Hm.
