Education: Part One. Part Two. Part Three. Part Infinity.

You see, I am a better writer than a lot of you who find it necessary to write five blogs to cover one topic. I can get it all out in one. "Part One! Part Two!" Please. Every person who does that loses my attention while I'm reading the title. If there is a "Part #" anywhere in the title, I don't bother reading it. Even when I'm done writing this, even though it's only a joke, there is still a "Part #" in my own title. I will never again read this blog.

Education. I was sitting at my desk one afternoon, struggling with the concepts of calculus, and a thought hit me: Why the hell am I putting myself through this? I'm majoring in music education. I will teach children the concepts of music. I will never use anything higher than line graphs. So--I stopped showing up to class. Guess what? I'm not failing at life. I'm not failing to graduate. I'm not losing anything other than a little credit: credit that I don't need.

I think this is the core thing that is wrong with the education system today. I think this is the core reason why so many high school students, especially seniors, feel their education is irrelevant. I will not use most of the classes that I am taking in my future career. I think, to prepare me better, if I was allowed to take all music classes this year, I would be more prepared for my own future. If we all were allowed to take classes that would benefit us, that are relevant to us, we as a society would progress more.

....you don't read blogs that are in parts? That's foolish. One of my posts (which btw is the top rated and was also promoted to the front page - I say this because I think those two things show that many consider that post to be of excellent quality) is part one of a lengthier paper. I divided into parts for two reasons - because it's a very long paper, and because each section of the paper really is separate. If I put the entire paper in one post... well, my papers are often between 10-25 typed, double-spaced pages. Who would read such a long post? And often it's perfectly appropriate to divide in sections. For instance, if I'm writing a paper about mental health, it would be appropriate to have separate sections (or posts) about different disorders, if I'm writing a significant amount about each disorder.

Yer the man for yer time and place.

Yer conciseness makes you higher on the writing chain. I might add that statements like, "You see, I am a better writer than a lot of you who find it necessary to write five blogs to cover one topic," should be passed on like biblical texts. They make me want to read further into yer blog. Dig elitism.
