As I carry this pack
On my back
With this gun
Its all done
Its no fun
Its a war
Cant believe I bore
This for so long
And hear your song
In my heart, in my mind
I must find
The will to go on
And break this bond
That is boyhood
As I should
Into manhood
As I could
Only in war
To fight
Yes it might
In this plight
Hard to find light
In this blight
Must I rewrite,
My belief
In the grief
As the trees release the leaf
And I sheath
My true feeling
In these dirty dealings
As my fears reach the ceiling
And Im reeling
On the floor
To the door
Behind it lies more
That Ive never seen before
As I bore
This for time
Its a crime
Not a war
All these men
In Devils den
And must fend
All these people
For the steeple
Of life
And the strife
Listen to the fife
With the drums
As it hums
And they strum
Down the field
With no shield
And the only weapon they wield
Is their faith
As they bathe
In the blood
In the flood
Through the mud
As they trudge
Through this fudge
And they fell
In this hell
Ring the bell
For the fallen
Your Gods callin
For you to come in
The gates
To the fates
Its too late
For youre already dead
Going to bed
In this never ending sleep
As it creeps
Through your feet
To your heart
Is it time to part?
From this world
Minds swirled
Lives twirled
Due to war
But life resumes
As I assume
To avoid the fumes
And destruction looms
In a cloud
And to be proud
And loud
To break this shroud
That attempts to block
The rays that flock
To the dock
Of the national scene
To be seen
By all who reside
And hide
From war
No more
On the shore
Of Life

Good job. I like how it is long and not short. Gives the message more emphasis. I want to hear it spoken :).
