I opened up my Internet Explorer to MSN to see "Is Miley the Next Brittany Spears?"
I want to discuss how we turn good girls into awful role models for teens.
It's bad enough that through your teen years, you're insecure about who you are, trying to figure out who you are and how you fit in, without pressure from others. During my early tween years, Brittany Spears was the craze. I remember how much I wanted to listen to her music, but my mom and dad thought that she wasn't the best role model for me, because of the way she dressed. It's hard to believe that the girl who was in the Mickey Mouse club, is now in rehab. This was announced by E! (I think) that this is Brittany Spears' worst year ever.
Now, we are in the making of making another innocent girl into the next Brittany. Miley Cyrus has a great influence amoung girls. People pay too much to go see her in concert. I thought at first that people were picking on her when they said that she was seen not wearing a seat belt; then said, "Will you let your kids watch Miley?" Rediculous. But in any case, I thought this time it would be different, but obviously not. She posed nude for the cover of Vanity Fair. She claims that, "She never meant for it to happen." Ha Who does? She has already been in trouble this year with other racy pictures with her friends and also giving the camera a peek at her bra.
Great. Another girl is going to be like Brittany. But think about it. Many girls have followed down this path: Jamie Lynn Spears (who said she doesn't want to be like her sister) and Lyndsey Lohan.
Unfortunatly scandals give more publicity to these girls wether they want it or not. It boosts their career and eventually breaks them down.
Good Role Models: How We Destroy Them

While I question the wisdom of posing with even the suggestion of nudity, the photo in question was quite tasteful and beautiful. It exposes less skin than some evening gowns she has worn. That said, she's fifteen...it's a pretty mature photo for a fifteen year old. The one I don't get the fuss about is the photo of her and her dad. What's the fuss about it? Apparently some people think it's inappropriate?

i agree. people make the scandels out of proportion. yes, the picture was a bit mature, but she was wrapped in a blanket. i didn't hear about the one with her and her dad. what was the picture of?
Can that photo be still seen? Because I'm wondering what it is if E.W. calls it "tasteful". I'm along the lines of "She's 15, she shouldn't be posing nude!" There's plenty of time to do that when you're more mature. She's just a kid, so let's keep it that way for a few years.
This reminds me of something that disturbed me. I was listening to the Howard Stern Show (my dad and I both listen to it in the car sometimes) when the subject went to young actresses whom older men like. Apparently Howard has something for one of the Olsen twins (which already creeped me out), but then a listener called in and starting talking about how hot and sexy Miley Cyrus was! This is just gross--and 30-40 yr old man talking about sexual stuff with a 15 year old.

Mind Control is Easier Than You Think
Just google Miley and you'll get it. It's not a gross or exploitive photo at all. It's too grown up for a fifteen year old girl, but it just shows her back, and she looks like she just woke up. It's very innocent, if you remove the fact that she's fifteen. Given her age, her handlers really should have approved the photos before publication. I don't fault Annie Leibovitz for the photo, though; It's a really beautiful shot. It just should have been taken three years from now.

It's sad how good girls can turn into bad ones so quickly. :(
But I never liked Miley anyway. Too commercial. She's a fad that will probably be not cool soon, hopefully like High School Musical.

She wasn't nude underneath the outfit--it's claimed that she was wearing something underneath and it's probably true because she did have family members there.
Parents need to work on parenting. In my opinion there was nothing wrong with the picture--but go to your local mall and check out the fifteen year old hookers there.
I’m absolutely fed up with all those mayor music labels that use any means possible to push music down my troth in witch I carry no interest.
I’m sick of all that commercial crap that is pushed upon our societies ears trough media like television and radio stations that blindly follow what ever is been pushed forward by those sharks that carry no other motives than to make monster profits.
They use any means possible to make easy money, even moulding 17 year old teenagers into superstars that end up with a superstar hangover just because they are not even been guided to handle a lifestyle that is filled with paparazzi, drugs, fake friends and crazy fans.
The only thing that matters to the sharks of the music industry is “cash” that allows them to create new hype’s every once in a while, milking this “goat” (example Britney Spears) to the last drop while letting her drown in that fake world they have created around her image that eventually looses it’s beauty in despair and misery.
