So, caucasions can be racist against everyone who isn't white supposedly. Other races can be racist against each other, however it's impossible to be racist against a 'white' person. Nope, not possible at all.
Psh, that's a bunch of baloney! If we are a different race, a different color, then would't you say a person could still be racists against whites? Well, I believe it's possible, but many other races don't seem to think so. Mind you, I'm not saying this is all of their opinions.
So, we can be against them in a racist sense but they can't be racists towards us because... we're white and we started it? Why? I don't understand it! Could someone please explain!
In any case, by saying that it's not possible to be racist towards whites that's basically saying to me that white people are the supreme race. I don't believe that, but that's what it says to me. I mean, if you're sitting there and saying that white people can be racist against anybody but we can't be racist towards them because it just isn't possible that's putting the white people above you, which is totally contradictory of the point you were trying to get across in the beginning. Odd, very odd.

I find it odd. They blame the "whole" race because of the past. Blame the person who did it, not the whole race that s/he comes from
Welcome to America. One black person represents all black people here.
As for the topic. Everyone is racist, but only those in power can be oppressive. "White" racism matters more, because "white" people are the "majority".
Yeah... whoever says that only whites can be racists is pretty ignorant. Minorities and whites are equally racist just based on those stereotypes of racism and prejudice. Lots of minority parents tell their kids not to marry someone who isn't of their race or ethnic group. I know a Chinese girl whose father actually refused to attend her wedding because she was marrying a white guy. How stupid is that?
Great movie to watch about racial prejudices & stereotypes is Crash with Sandra Bullock.
I heard that was a really good movie. My dad owns it, a friend gave it to him for his birthday, so as soon as I go over to the house it will be at my fingertips waiting to be watched when I find the time. :)
~The Vixen: Alyssa~
While I agree that it is a little extreme for a father to refuse to attend his daughter's wedding, you have to try and understand where they're coming from. I'm assuming that the girl is first generation. Think of the Chinese culture. To him, he was just trying to watch out for his daughter. He was just trying to preserve his culture. What he did wasn't stupid, just extreme, and possibly uncalled for.
Amor est vitae essentia.
I didn't like that movie. Save yourself some time and just listen to "Everyone's A little Bit Racist" by Avenue Q. Same thing.
We all belong to the same race; the Human Race.
Hate to bring in disgusting imagery, but when you rip off everyone's skin, we all look exactly the same.
Amor est vitae essentia.
I dont see how someone can say that you cant be prejudice or racist against the white race. If you dont like someone because of their color, then they are racist. One cannot just say that because someone else started something that they cannot be racist against them because this is exactly against what they are saying. Most people want racism to be gone, vanished but they themselves continue to be racists. What is up with that?
White People do not have a monopoly on Racism. My immediate supervisor has got to be the most racist person I have ever known........and he's black. Let me explain a few things about this guy. He's the top dog at my job, his word is law. He is what he describes himself as a street N***A. He calls everybody a N***A, even if they are white.
He is always talking about white ppl like dogs, and he does this to my face. I can deal with it because he knows I am married to black woman, and have had run-ins with a few racist white ppl, but I can't sure how he talks about me behind my back. He makes grandiose claims that they are racist, but he's the one making the racist remarks about them. He mentions how much of a racist his father was, but I say, "The acorn does not fall far from the tree." BTW, here's a little history. The Egyptian enslaved the jews and the africans. Rome did the same to every culture they conquered. The Europeans came along about 6-700 yrs late and took up the practice . The Romans are not caucasoid. Europeans are generally thought as caucasion. We can't change history, but don't have to repeat it. I, for one, will not apologize for something My forbears did so long ago. And my last point, I am stereotyped all the time, I am white, keep my hair military regulation, and wear a mustache, So, I am assumed to be a cop (5-0), one time, you name it, I've been called it.
Acceptance, we all need to practice Acceptance. Like my pastor says, "Jesus loves those purple haired punks too". I love people, in their entirety. If your uncomfortable with a person, than address your concern with them, don't sterotype them or their race. God Bless.
I would just like to know who "they" is in the comment that says "they blame the whole race because of the past." That seems a little racist to me...
My boyfriend isn't caucasian. I am. I have gotten more under the breath comments, stares, and eye rolling from some in his family than he has ever gotten from mine.
That's because minorities can now openly express there racisim and they do because they haven't been able to before. You mite do some things that come off ignorant to them or something Idk that would just be a guess coming from a minority that deals with sheltered caucasions on the reg. Idk if your sheltered or not though.
Not sheltered or spoiled or ignorant, by the way. The first time I encountered it was at his mother's funeral. I was there just to support him and hadn't been there five minutes before it started. And the comments and looks I was getting wasn't based on my personality or lack of, just my "whiteness" was offending them.
Good job at giving the free pass to the "black racists". You pass it off as if maybe she was doing something that gave them the right. Oh, but if the situation was reversed I bet you would be saying "Well some people are just ignorant and there is nothing you can do about".... That I would probably agree with, but only if it applied to everyone.
The whole race benefits from the atrocities committed in the past. I ran into an attractive white female from South Carolina who whined against Affirmative Action, saying she is not to blame for the sins of her forefathers. However, she herself is benefitting from the sins of her great grandfather who was responsible for lynching a black man and stealing his property in the early 1900s. Why? The ill gotten property has been passed on to her through generations and she is not willing to give it back. No she did not commit the atrocity but she inherited the fruits of the atrocity and is equally culpable.
Is she supposed to deed her property to you, then because she inherited it?
She is absolutely not equally culpable. Blame does not transfer from generation to generation like that.
What does transfer is the advantage, as you describe, which is why affirmative action is still necessary. It is necessary, though, because there are social disadvantages arising from racism of the past and present, not because there is any blame placed on non-racist whites for what was done in the past.
And just how far back should we take this? Should any blacks who earn eealth or own homes have to give it back to the Native Americans?
That does piss me off, its racist if you are gay, lesbian, asian, black, or anything other than white. I am not a racist, but some people like to use it to take advantage of others that are none of those.
The property does not belong to her. It is ill gotten. She should pay reparations to the family which was ripped off though lynching..and who have been living in poverty since then as a result.
Under your argument, the black family should then take those reparations and pay them to the Native American family that lived there before whites stole the land and it fell into their hands.
The issue is not as simple as you claim, nor can we blame current generations of whites for what their ancestors did. That would solve nothing. Paying reparations would still be a positive gesture right now, but we can not demand it of her on inherent moral grounds.
Descendants of whites (not most of them) do benefit from ill gotten wealth and are equally culpable.
I am NOT responsible for my forefathers. Let me say this again - I am NOT responsible for my forefathers. I have enough to be responsible for. I am responsible for me and I am responsible for my son (who happens to be multiracial). I can only benefit myself and those I choose to help. I can't search down the Native Americans that lived here five hundred years ago and move out of my house and say 'Enjoy!' I have been taught to repair any damage you do while you are here on earth and to make lives better for those that can't do it for themselves, if possible and that is what I have done and will continue to do.
No not you. But we have to look at individual cases rather than race as a whole. Did one person benefit from screwing another and is his or her descendants enjoying the beneifts..is the case clear cut? This was the theme of CBS's Cold Case show a few weeks ago involving two white families..all of them pure white..
are you kidding me? its impossible to be racist against whites? what kind of lolo said this? obviously you live in a place where whites are the majority. i cant count all the "cracker"s and the "guera"s and "guero"s ive heard. every single race has people in it that are extremely supremest about their race, no matter what race it is.
Believe me, I know it's possible to be racist against whites, and I know people who are. However I also know people who when using a racial slur or something of that nature against a white person deny the fact that it is racism. In my blog I was being sarcastic in order to express the fact that it's idiotic to think that you can't be racist towards a white person. I completely agree with what you said in your last sentence. People can be racist against anybody, it doesn't matter where they're from of what color they are. Thank you for commenting!

I was just thinking about this today. Everyone is a little bit racist, as the famed musical "Avenue Q" humorously articulates. Although I try to be as impartial as I can in my thinking, I sometimes find myself making judgements which I suspect might at some level be based on race. I am white, but I found myself understating the abilities of an aquaintence today.. and when asked to describe him I immediately pointed out that he's very aryian-looking. I then wondered if that factored into my characterization of him.
On second thought, it may not have, because he also looked young, which is an entirely different issue. Also disturbing, though, because I'm kind of a cruscader against agism.
Anyway, it's important to identify potential biases like these because awareness of their possibility helps to produce more morally sound thought and action.
Double standards. Boy, I've been saying that a lot lately.
A minority can be judgemental to a white person and vice versa. Minorities can think that whites play golf a lot while whites can think that black people play basketball a lot. Stereotyping doesn't just stop at race, it goes onto gender and other personal attributes.
One reason I've come across that racism against white people can't is because there's a thing called white privilege. Minorities can throw as many slurs as they want at you but in the end, the whole system (economically, politically, socially) is racist.
I think everyone has a little racism in them. I watched a representative of the black panther party accuse jews of knowing about sept. 11 because sept 11. that year was a jewish holy day and a lot of jews weren't in work, and he claims they weren't in work because they knew it was gonna happen and it's their fault.
Every race has it's own stereotypes and has it's feelings towards others...it's just the way it is.
As it was put in Avenue Q, "Everyone's a little bit racist, sometimes - doesn't mean we go around committing hate crimes."
There is a clear line between having a tendency to unconsciously stereotype and actually acting based on those stereotypes.
The best way to fight racism is to look for it and point it out where it exists, to fight its social effects, and to strive for psychological purity even if it can't be completely achieved.
I think where that comes from is whether you call a white person a "cracker, honky," or whatever, it's not going to degrade them. I don't know if they look at that in a degrading manner or not, I'm not white. "White trash" may be different because it was used to describe poor whites.
But if somebody was to call a black person a "nigger," then they would have achieved their mission on trying to degrade a black person. That word was used to make blacks feel lower than second class citizens.
I think the same thing goes for Hispanics when people describe them as "wetbacks"(or whatever the word is) or dirty.
But like I said I don't know how different groups react to these different slurs. I think if people stopped getting offended when people use racial slurs, then people would stop using them and they wouldn't be affected. But hey, it's just a theory...
It is very possible to be racist against whites. Here in the south being white is pretty much being the minority race. We have black history month, black entertainment television, black scholarships and the list goes on and on. When it is acceptable for me to get a scholarship because I am white then I will say you can't be racist against a white person. I personally am thrilled they got rid of affirmative action here, I don't think you should get a free pass to college because you are black, you should earn it like anyone else.
They hated each other's "race" enough to massacre a million with machetes. To outsiders they have no discernable racial differences. American Civil War, similar massacre among white people. Mao's China, same old shit among yellow people. Race is only a real problem when it's used to justify a crime. Otherwise it's just provocative chatter. We've all come a long way. Just be glad America is relatively civilized so far. We've been blessed with abundant resources, easy credit, and enough guns to annihilate any debt collectors.
I agree on the part with the scholarships. I find it very unfair that a person can recieve free money for college simply because they are black. I also find it extremely unfair that colleges can refuse a white person over a minority because they need to raise their minority numbers- if I'm smarter than the other person, I should get in before them! I thought the color of our skin wasnt supposed to matter anymore- but apparantly not.
I also agree with the reparations thing- that current generations of whites do not owe ancestors of enslaved blacks a thing. WE did not enslave them. THEY are not being dragged off to be slaves. And by paying reparations, we are simply perpetuating the old racism and sterotypes. We cannot be blamed for what our ancestors did. Our society has changed.
Also, why is it worse to say "nigger" than it is to say "cracker" or "white trash"? While some might be weighted more than others, they are all racial slurs in the end. Contrary to what your mom might have said, words CAN hurt you. Racial slurs are emotionally degrading and humiliating.
So basically, I have no feeling that I should pay for what my ancestors did. There has been many years of freedom for blacks to create a better life for themselves- they need to let go of the past and not play the 'slavery' card anymore.
As for the college thing a minority can never take a white persons "spot ' because that spot is not there’s to begin with. I also find it interesting that most of the schools where this "spot taking" happens are mostly white but no one ever asks if there are white kids with lower stats that got in.
And if I don’t play the slavery card can I play the "Jim Crow" Both my parent were alive then that wasn't 300 years ago. Can I play the "Jena 6" card can I play the West Virginia kidnapping card? http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/years/2007/0911071logansix1.html
The owners of BET are white. It's owned by Viacom the same company that own VH1 and MTV. Most of the audience about 75-80% is also white. So what you get is a white company portraying an image of Blacks for other white people.
I am not saying that all white people need to apologize for the sins of the father. But what I am saying is that they need to stop pretending that racism is it's dead just because slavery is over and take steps to correct as white pole are still the one with most if not all of the power. Black American in particular still holds the vestiges of slavery within in the and as evident by companies such as BET.
Lastly as for the nigger /honky cracker discussion. I personally would not use any of those words. But I will make the argument that the terms come from different places. Nigger is the worst than a white person can ever call a black person. When it is used it is used in a way that is dehumanizing. Historically it was created a term to differentiate black slaves from people.
Cracker comes for the sound of a whip. It was use to denote a position of power. Honky was a term invented in the north it form the sound of a cars horn (honk honk) it was a term of wealth sine at the time it only the wealthiest people could own cars and like now most of the higher classes were white.
THAT IS TOTALLY TRUE! IM BLACK AND I KNOW THERE ARE SOME RACISTS OUT THERE THAT ARE BLACK AND ANY OTHER RACE YOU CAN THINK OF THAT IS NOT WHITE! SO I DO AGREE WITH WHAT YOU ARE SAYING. I GUESS WHAT A LOT OF MINORITIES THINK( MYSELF INCLUDED) IS THAT IT IS MORE VISIBLE WITH WHITES TOWARDS MINORITIES RATHER THAN MINORITIES TOWARDS BLACKS.
Um, I just feel like I got yelled at, please don't use all caps.
Nobody said people can't be racist towards white people. Hell I know whites that are racists towards whites!
The way I really look at it though it that people who are racist aren't racist because they actually disliked a certain group of people since birth, but were otherwise raised that way or just chose to dislike this group. If it wasn't Jews, it was blacks, once it wasn't blacks it was Asians, once it wasn't Asians, it was Mexicans and I could really keep going. Don't you all see? People will ALWAYS choose somebody to hate no matter what. One thing will jst be replaced by another, and it is very saddening.
In the fourth grade I went to an elementary school where I was the only white kid in my grade. A couple of other kids were half-white but the fact they didn't look white made them somehow "immune." Not this "ugly-ass white girl." Nope. I barely even tan.
Four black boys dragged me behind one of the portable classrooms and beat me up for an hour, all the while making fun of my helplessness, my whiteness, and anything else they felt like verbally abusing. I screamed for help, but no one came. My parents had to fight to get the Asian Principal and the African-American Vice Principal to even acknowledge what had happened. The boys went unpunished. No one wanted to hear about my particular variety of victimization at the hands of racism.
Funny, how people claim it to be impossible.
"Better a cruel truth than a comfortable delusion. " —Edward Abbey
"You've really worked out your banter, haven't you?"
"No, not really. This is a different thing–it's spontaneous and it's called wit."

My eyes were really opened by the hateful lessons, that black people, including Children, were getting in Obama's church. Not only was the sermon packed with hatred, a lot of it was scurrilous lies (like the government invented AIDS).
I am sure there are plenty of white parents out there that actively pass on racial hatred to their children. But essentially such behavior is absolutely taboo in white culture. It is hard for me to imagine a sermon like Rev. Wrights' happening in a white Church.
Racism is going to persist as long as we keep teaching our children to hate. It seems that the main race that is practicing that behavior is not the white race. I think those teachings show up in the crime statistics because it turns out that there are many times the black on white crimes as there are white on black crimes.
If black people don't like racism then they need to stop being racists.
I totally agree with the author's point. Not to mention that's history. Get over it. I'm white, but I have black ancestors. My ancestors were slaves who were freed duing the Civil War. Get over yourselves. Anyone can be racist about any other race. If you don't want us to be racist against you then don't antagonize us or act racist towards us.
Get over it is right! That's the point in my most recent blog, I am so annoyed with different people of different races complaining about other races privledges etc.
Après la pluie le beau temps. ♥
Check out my latest blog! :]
About 30,000 White women are raped by black males every year.
90% of Interracial violent crimes in this country are black on White.
Can't be racist against Whites. Just rape and kill them I suppose.
