So, this is my first post. And this is an exciting chance to get a rant off my chest.
It has occurred to me that teenagers these days are incredibly apathetic. I see kids at my school walk right past the booths at lunch selling suckers for 50 cents for kids with cancer to buy 10 dollar tickets for some stupid dance. You figure if they could shell out 10 bucks, they can spare 50 cents for a sick kid in a hospital.
But no. And being the person who sat behind the table selling suckers for sick kids, it made me almost cry. Everyone walked by and hardly anyone bought a sucker. I think I actually bought most of suckers we sold.
At the end of the day, I'm the one that feels bad. I feel like I didn't do a good enough job selling. What it comes down to is kids these days just don't care. What's going to happen when the baby boomer generation can't do everything for our generation anymore? When we have to take responsibilty for our actions? What happens when we're the ones that need to turn out en masse and vote? Are we just going to say, "Someone else will do it," and let it go?
It makes me sick to think of what life will be like in the future if this continues. If you are reading this, and you see yourself as one of these kinds of people, GET UP AND HELP!
Apathy is everywhere.

Clearly not everyone doesn't care: look at yourself! I think that you are right, for the most part, but don't worry about it. I think that apathy is part of going through the "teen angst" phase of life, and by the time teens grow into "responsible adults", they'll have a greater appreciation for the world.
Maybe they didn't want a sucker. I don't eat a lot of candy, so I almost never bought the candy kids sold at my high school.
