In addition to being clearly ahead for the younger demographic in democratic polls, Obama seems to be the right choice for youth. Of course it’s great for him that he has so much support, but is this support rational, or is it merely jumping on the Obama bandwagon? Let’s face it, Obama’s clearly cooler than 60 year old Hilary or 71 year old McCain, and Obama has a clear youthful energy. However, I believe that Barak is the right choice for this demographic. He plans on offering a tax credit for college so that the first $4000 is completely free for most Americans. He also plans on covering two-thirds of the tuition at the average public university, and community college will be completely free for most students. He also has a plan to streamline the financial aid process. Further more, Obama wants to get the youth involved by providing many government volunteer opportunities where college tuition is helped paid by the government when students work in various areas, be it helping the homeless, or working on a campaign. Of course, this means nothing without a comparison from the other democratic option. Like most of her issues, Clinton’s stance for the youth is vague and she does not provide any specifics.
Is Obama the Candidate for Young Voters?

and the fact of the matter is......the youth is the future.
if todays youth is our future, we don't have much of a future. Lack of morals, On demand, easily lead by Hollywood and unimformed is todays youth's M.O. Ever hear the saying Garbage in - Garbage out. Today's youth looks to the disconnected Hollywood Elite for guidance rather than God, their parents, their pastors, their elders, etc..
ya the tuition relief is especially beneficial to people our age.
I just turned 50 last month. I am a tail end of the baby boom baby. It will be a few years before I collect Social Security but in the meantime I have done really well in the business world and am semi-retired but still making a nice income. I'm one of those 50% of American who pays quite a lot of tax. It won't be too much longer though before my income tapers off sharply and I just start living on my wealth while reporting very little new taxable income. Like almost all retired people, I'll become a consumer of tax dollars rather than a contributor.
I was getting kind of worried about whether or not the money I had paid into Social Security was ever going to yield me a return. I don't really need it because I have provided for myself pretty well and I'll be fine. But that was going to be my fun money for traveling and playing. It was also going to allow me to preserve a big chunk of my wealth as an estate that can be handed to my daughter. I was worrid but now that young people have elected Obama, I'm pretty sure that I'll be enjoying golf in sunny Florida courtesy of the taxpayers.
Obama knows how to fix this problem. He is going to raise taxes on young workers. I'm reasonably healthy and I come from good longevity genes. With any luck, I'll be sucking on the government tit for a long, long time. Most kids that are in college now will spend most of their entire working lives helping to pay for my green fees.
I'm damn glad that young people have elected to turn themselves into my tax slaves by electing Obama. They have sold themselves into my servitude for a measly $4000 tuition credit. I'll bet they pay that back pretty fast and many times over as they toil for the next 40 years in the workforce paying at the new higher tax rates.
Old people are on average America's richest people and young people are on average America's poorest people. I think it is strangely sad that we are going to tax our poorest people to support our wealthiest people. One thing about the new tax structure is that the wealth imbalance is going to be fixed. The current crop of young people won't have a pot to piss in when they get old because the government is going to relieve them of excess income that could have been saved but instead will be confiscated as tax to support my golf.
But those same poor young people voted for this scenario with much gusto and enthusiasm. So I guess there is not much for me to say but, "Thanks!" I'll be thinking about you on the golf course.
