Good Passwords?

So I've been talking with some of my friends about what their password strategies are and I'm finding some really good ideas that I thought I'd share here.

1) The Universal Password: This is probably the most common of any password strategies. You pick one password like "3blindmice" and you use it for every site and everything you do. I personally don't think this is tooo smart. If someone finds your password then all your protected items are opened up! But I admit, I have used this before....

2) The Universal Password... with a Twist!: So I was talking with a friend of mine a while back on how I used to use the same password for everything. He told me a little trick he uses:
1. Think of a universal password like, "5403"
2. Take the first two letters of the website name and put it before that password.
Like so: pr5403
I think this is great because you could go in so many directions with it. Putting initials of the site at the beginning and the end... putting it at the end... it just works great! It's easy to remember yet it is hard for others to guess.

3) The Picture Password: This is my personal favorite. You create a giant ascii image, such as this image of Einstein: http://linksforelliot.googlepages.com/ascii.php.htm
Then you have the opportunity to select a password from anywhere within the image. It may sound hard to remember, but in order to make this easy you put the password hint as, "Lower lip" or "Left ear". This way, no one can even try to guess from the hint!

Okay I showed you some of mine, now you show me some of your's! What is your way to keep passwords?

Honestly, the password that I use for websites that I don't care about is the most commonly used password: "password!" I just don't care if someone can get into my sparknotes account...

And it is very true for me too, that I just use the same password for a lot of sites that I don't really care about. But then there are sites like blogger, gmail and godaddy...

I take people I know and the year/day they were born. So, my IT password should have been Dakota (my sister), followed by 96, the year she was born. Of course, I'm an idiot sometimes, so I got her birthday mixed up when I was creating the password, but still... I use a lot of nicknames too. I think I have three main passwords in this vein, and one of these days, I might actually go through and update some of my them.

I have a few sets of passwords- high security, mid security, and low security. All of the passwords are good, unique, and hard to crack, but I use them at different sites depending on their importance to me. Some of them are switched up due to the sites' password requirements. If this is the case, I just write them down. The worst thing anyone could do for most of the places I visit is pay a bill for me, so I'm not that worried about it.
