That’s what a book is really once you get down to the basics of it. Or, at least, that’s what it is now, post-scroll age.
(Amusing Side Note- Brilliant video on YouTube; type “Norwegian Monks”. Go on. Just trust me!)
In my AP English class right now there is only one highlighting dread on everyone’s mind. It’s the ridiculous list of stories that our Chicago-born-oh-my-land-why-am-I-stuck-in-uncultural-south-central-Illinois teacher has assigned us. Give this group of people all the essays in the world and you might just find a happier class. This is how bored they find themselves. From Hawthorne to Hemingway possibly the only lecture in which we were “awakened” was while talking about Kate Chopin and a sex scene in one of her short stories (no pun intended for the bookworms out there). There is not much for a poor class of American teenagers otherwise.
So in light of the absurd inspiration for reading these days here we are at the question, what IS the point in a stack of papers? Well simply this for my first blog; in order to increase illumination, challenge tradition, exercise the imagination so that we might all combat the boring and overstated standards of the worlds (and lectures, too) read on, my friends! READ ON!

When you're sitting through a required lecture on a subject you couldn't care less about. As your Professor lectures on in a perfect monotone, your mind will begin to drift. Then, off to dreamland you will go.
Yeah, I've had a few bad experiences. If you want some lit that doesn't suck, check out A Confederacy of Dunces, it is usually good for a laugh or 10.
"We cannot redeem evil, we must combat it." -- Jean Paul Sartre
I've got to read that for my Research Writing class.
"-bah!! Pardon the "bah!" I feel several "bahs!", but out of courtesy I only say one."
H.P. Lovecraft
But it's more fun if you've read Boethius' Consolation of Philosophy first because of all the references.

No, and I have to start reading this weekend. ah well....
"-bah!! Pardon the "bah!" I feel several "bahs!", but out of courtesy I only say one."
H.P. Lovecraft
You should be able to knock it (Consolation of Philosophy) out in a couple of hours. Confederacy of Dunces might take a little longer, and you'll either love Ignatius, or hate him. There's absolutely no middle ground.

Well, I'll see if I can find it. I'm pretty broke and I'm not in the right city to use a library....
