I am a Xikana living in Michigan for the past 16 years. I am an Alumni of Michigan State University, my degree is in Communications. I am going back to obtain my Masters in Social Work. I currently work for a non-profit organization. I enjoy my job with the agency, however, I feel like I am at a point in my life in which I can learn some managerial skills. My goal is to one day run my own non-profit organization helping individuals re-entering the community from prison. In my current job, I have found that there are a lot of problem areas that individuals face every day. I work around issues of poverty, lack of health care, health disparities, prison health reform, and many other issues.
I currently have been working hard on a few current bills proposed before the Michigan House of Representative. There are a set of bills called the Juvenile Life Without Parole, or Second Chance Bills. If passed they would give 300 currently incarcerated women and men, who were incarnated as children, the opportunity for their cases to be reviewed by the Michigan Parole Board. The U.S. stands alone in the world that incarcerates youth for life without parole. Sometimes these sentences on the youth are more severe than some adults receive.
That is just an example of some of the things I work on. I will continue to blog on bills, and issues affecting not only student like myself but others in my community.

I thought "Jevenial" was someone's name at first. Did you mean to write "Juvenile"? As in a non-adult?
