My mother immigrated in 1990. She risked her life to cross the
United States border to give me a better life and education. As a single mom of three, and an illegal immigrant, she faced a lot of challenges. However, my mother’s faith in God kept her going.
School was hard for me because of the language barrier. Once, In California, one of my teachers kicked me and my brothers out of school because she said teaching us English would slow the others down. She threatened to contact INS. Fearing deportation, my mother decided to move to San Jose.
Throughout this time I felt sad. Not wanting my mother to work so hard I got my first part-time job at Burger King at age 14. It was tough for me to balance work and school, but I wanted to help my mother pay rent.
My mother is a brave person. I am going to make her proud. I have already sent her my High School diploma, and, when I get my Bachelors, I am going to dedicate that to her also. She is the most important person in my life, and she will always be in my heart.

Your mother seem like a very good human being, not just a great mother. I hope everything work out for you and your family. Good Luck!
